IT WORKS! ^^^Tried this with no change. Although I imagine it'll help me down the road. The load order I originally submitted was incorrect. The DLC ESMs were before the POP ESMs; I just misread them from the Data Files listed in the NV launcher. I kept reading over and over how many people with the same issues just needed to update their Realtek audio drivers. I never had these drivers on my machine in the first place so I just assumed this wouldn't apply to me, but after talking with a friend, she seemed to think that was the issue. I downloaded them and installed without any problems. Restarted the PC and the game has audio with no FPS drop. It runs very smoothly so far. The only issue now is the audio sounds a little....different? High pitched in some areas and low pitched in others would be the best way to describe it, but I feel like troubleshooting this issue will be a far easier task. Thank you for all of your help Dubious especially with keeping the Mod Troubleshooting Page updated. -Bing EDIT: High pitched audio issue was solved by rolling back the driver. Thanks again!

Greetings everyone! I have recently attempted to start troubleshooting an issue I had with playing NV in the past that I could never solve. I believe I even posted about it here a few years ago. Essentially, I have the "Vanilla Game Hangs on Startup" problem as described by the Fallout NV Mod Troubleshooting page. I have spent a significant amount of time on it this go around, and I think I have the issue narrowed down to a OS problem with Windows 10. This same issue occurs whenever I attempt to play Fallout 3 and Tom Clancy's ENDWAR as well. I think it may be some Windows 10 issue with older games, but I am by no means a savant when it comes to troubleshooting these issues. I will be posting a lot of information below, but I have tried to condense it has best as possible. If I am leaving anything out then please point it out and I'll provide the necessary info. To those of you not familiar with this issue, it is perfectly described on the NV Mod Troubleshooting page as: My System Specs My Game and Load Order Dependency Tool Findings My Attempted Solutions (In addition to all solutions listed under the Vanilla Game Hangs on Startup section of the Mod Troubleshooting Guide) If anyone has any further tips or feedback that would help me in my quest to solve this issue then I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you for your time, Bing

No change after reinstalling and installing Live. I will uninstall, use ccleaner, and try to download through steam.

I have thoroughly enjoyed all of them to be honest. They are not without there faults, but I have spent 100s of hours on all three of them. I have always really liked NV. I am not a huge fan of the desert setting either, but the whole "Vegas back in its hay day" aesthetic I have really liked. I think it's the "how would you survive after a nuclear apocolyspe" premise behind the series that I like the most though. For reference, I like getting hard copies of games just due to my internet speed, and I got this one from Bethesda store for $20 with all DLC. What series of books would I find those themes that you speak of, I'll have to look into them?

See that thought crossed my mind to, because I had a similar problem with FO3 months ago on another machine, but it doesn't actually say Games for Windows "Live" so I didn't think it was the same. It just says Games for Windows. I will try again, and see what happens. Thanks for the download!

It isn't so much an issue of affording better internet as it is the fact that I live in the middle of nowhere, and this is the best speed I can get. My ISP has no competition out here so they have no incentive to do the groundwork to get faster connections out here. The closest thing I have to an internet cafe is the college I attend, and I have done just as you have stated to download games in the past; however, they just closed the university due to weather tonight, and it would be a 30 minute drive in this terrible weather anyways, so I'll just try it with the internet that I have. If this doesn't work, then I'll try it with the campus connection. So on a side note, what would be your recommendation for an OS that I can use for gaming other than Windows? EDIT: I don't see "SecuRom" anywhere on the case. It just says Games for Windows PC DVD and enhanced for multi-core.

That makes sense. Only problem is that I have terrible internet at home. We are talking 1 Mnps up/download speeds and that is at its best. This is a 9 GB install, so it'll take several hours for it to complete. I'll run it overnight tonight and hope it is finished by mid-day tomorrow. Better it's NV and not FO4 with over 35 GB lol.

Lol, me too! So finished the opening sequence. I let all quests and other misc. things load, and then I created a hard save. Restarted the PC and loaded the game with no change. The problem seems to start whenever I click on "Continue" or "New Game" from the Main Menu. Just as it starts to load a game or start a new one, I lose all sound.....interesting side note, the opening video that plays whenever a new game is started has full audio and no issues with it. It is just when the loading screen pops up that I notice the problem starting. I don't know if this narrows down the field of possible problems or not

Yeah we have terrible weather where I am at too. I tried raw launching from steam first I believe. Then I tried NMM and NVSE. I wonder if it just might be an issue with the beginning sequences of the game. I'll try to launch from steam, progress through the opening sequences, and then make a hard save, reboot, and load up again. I can't thank you enough mate for all the assistance.

I legitimately do find that interesting. I am surprised I haven't heard it from someone else to be honest. I guess it just isn't talked about much, or I am not listening to enough circles.

Where can I find more detail about this, please? -Dubious- I was also curious about this if you wouldn't mine explaining.

Okay so I launched the launcher (and yes, this was all through steam). Clicked Play Game. Main Menu came up, I used Alt-Tab to return to desktop and run the tool. I don't think it changed much if at all from the previous run.....

I am not sure if I did this correctly or not...this list is quite large if you look at the scroll bar to the far right of the image you will get an idea.

I have a 1 TB HDD (my D Drive) and a SSD (my C drive) that I think is 126 GB (not home right now so I can't look). But I have steam installed on the HDD in its own folder. So if memory serves me right it's like this... D-->STEAM-->steamapps-->common-->FalloutNV

Oblivion crashes when loading master files
BINGDAKING replied to OrganicView's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
You have a decent sized list of mods here mate. Do you know if those .esm plugins conflict with anything in your load order? If by enabling any of them causes a crash, I am assuming there is a conflict somewhere.... Have you tried disabling all plugins besides each of those .esms? I know you said you went one by one, but did you single just these ones out as well? If you haven't and the game loads correctly, then I think it would confirm my suspicions. -Bing Edit: No problem, glad you figured it out! -
Okay I think I follow all of that. Thank you! To someone that doesn't know a lot about the differences between OS', you have explained this very well so far. I'll keep you posted on new developments. -Bing ****************************************************************** UPDATE No dice unfortunately. Using the DXDiag utility is still showing no issues as well. There has been no change in the problem....there is something I am missing. No reason why some people can get it to work on Windows 10 and others can't. I'm going to keep troubleshooting and see what I find. If I get a fix, I will definitely let you know. Thank you for all the help again! I really appreciate it!

So just as a quick update. I have DXDiag utility. It did not reveal any issues. I have also checked to make sure the sound, video, and mouse drivers are all up to date. I am working on using NVSR and NVAC now. Will consult the Solutions to Performance Problems guide if they don't improve the problem. This info is from the DXDiag. I am not sure if it would be useful to you or anyone else, but I'll just post it for the time being. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Operating System: Windows 10 Home 64-bit Language: English (Regional Setting: English) System Manufacturer: Micro-Star International Co., Ltd. I just read that there may be an issue with Windows 10 and the game. Apparently some people can't run it period, while others claim it works fine. I tried running the NVSE as administrator and set to compatibility mode with windows 7, and it actually made it lag probably twice as more before. I verified game cache again and one 600 kb file needed replaced, tried launching after that with no change. Am I just doomed because of Windows 10 or am I missing something?

I have Windows 10 but I'm at work right now, so I'll get the rest of the info and try those things around 2-3pm EST today. I have not used that utility either. Thanks a lot, I'll keep you updated!

Hey everyone, I have ran into an odd issue that I can't seem to find replicated by anyone else on the internet. I just bought Fallout NV Ultimate Edition for the PC. I installed it successfully from the disc. When I open the launcher, it functions as it should with the music in the background. I also have audio by the time the main menu loads. Whenever I load a game, the loading screen with the roulette wheel has no audio and this screen will freeze for one to two seconds (as evidenced by the ball in the roulette wheel stopping). My screen will then go black for a few seconds, and the game will load. I have no audio at this point and there is severe lag. I have tried: -Updating drivers for GPU -Using Yukichigai Unofficial New Vegas patch from the Nexus -Verifying integrity of game cache -Restarting PC -Reinstalling game -Manipulating the ini file to make it run more than single core (the game claims to be optimized for multi-core but it was just something I haven't tried) -Dropped the graphic settings from Ultra to Medium with no change I am at a loss at this point, because I can't seem to find someone else that has had this issue before. My specs are: -GeForce GTX 1060 3 GB -Intel® Core i5-6400 CPU @ 2.70 GHz -7.95 GB RAM -1920 x 1080, 60 Hz Display Other than the unofficial patch attempt, I am using no mods so my load order is: 1. Fallout NV.esm 2. CaravanPack.esm 3. ClassicPack.esm 4. MercenaryPack.esm 5. DeadMoney.esm 6. HonestHearts.esm 7. OldWorldBlues.esm 8. LonesomeRoad.esm 9. GunRunnersArsenal.esm 10. TribalPack.esm I would greatly appreciate any help that anyone can provide. If I am missing any information that you might need, then please ask. Thanks again, Bing

It does add Tiredness, Starvation, and Dehydration.....though they may not seem "hardcore" enough for you. There are other mods that make these features more "hardcore" and a lot more realistic. Doing a search of "Hardcore Needs" or something to that extent on the Nexus should show you a few. I personally like this one.... Imps More Complex Needs at Fallout New Vegas (IMCNNV) http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/37254/? There are many others that you can find by doing the aforementioned search though. I hope that helped you
