  1. I think he means how do you teleport an NPC to an area with the console without having to first teleport the SS there first, and THEN "moveto.player. I too would like an answer to that question. I've been having random named NPCs spawn at Sanctuary (so far anyway) from all over the CW: i.e Abernathys', ghouls from The Slog, Goodneighbor, Covenant, etc. VERY annoying, not the least of which because some are merchants, some quest givers, and so on. So far I've just been teleporting the SS to the NPC's original location, and then pulling them to me from there as mentioned above. If there isn't a console command to just send them there outight, so be it. "Better Settlers" mod is the closest culprit I can come up, unless it's somehow "UF04 patch".
  2. Just want to bump this thread again. Be really nice to have helms always show for the Warden, during cutscenes, dialogs, etc. I think IA does this for a few characters in the game. Not to mention this is done for the Guardian in the vanilla game itself.
  3. Be nice to have this for DA 2 as well. Most especially for the helms that still show Hawke's face. Is this only possible to do with the "full" toolset ? Surely it can't be that hard for somebody to put together.
  4. Work I'd be more than willing to put in. Buy a microphone, and maybe some type of audio manipulator software or something. Then record. Would probably take a few weeks to get really good takes for all the lines, but I could bang it out for the reward. Can't say I'm an actor in the true sense of the word either, but I'm way more than confidant that I could do well enough that I'd love every minute of it. Others may or may not, but I would. And for that comes the beauty of this site. Others will do voices that you DO like. I think if this mod were created there would be plenty to choose from. You would eventually find one that you can at least live with. And if not, keep the mute of course. Well I am the one who created the thread afterall. Assume everything that comes out of my mouth (or text here) to be my opinion unless stated otherwise ;) I don't always preface everything I say with "IMO" or "This is only me but..." but I thought it was sort of implied. Seems this has happened at least a few others times on this board and others. Maybe I don't explain myself and my ideas in the correct fashion for it to come across that way, heh. Ah well. I'll try my best to fix that. Until then :) Heh, not really much that can be done about that. Unless you rewrite the dialog that is used to mean the same thing with different words. I suppose that's possible. The meaning couldn't change though, for obvious reasons. Go back to the beginning of this thread and take a gander at the video I linked. ALL of those are custom characters and lines using the Dragon Age toolset. It's entirely possible. If only the guys behind that machinima were willing to put together this mod. I've no doubt they could pull it off. There's a whole team of them.
  5. Wow. Both of you have missed the entire point to this thread and the reason I created it. I want somebody to bang out the technical aspects of adding a voiced main character so that I can insert MY OWN voice for the character. The same could be done for anybody else. Just insert your own audio files. This way you WOULD be hearing yourself, just audibly and not in your own head. How is THAT not preferable to a silent protagonist ? Answer: It's not.
  6. Didn't really want to keep posting in this thread to avoid potential spamming, but just have to say one more thing. I didn't make this thread in direct respone to your comment to me. I've been thinking about these things for a little bit now. Just hesistant to come and post because of the laggyness as I mentioned (seems to be a lot better now that I've switched to white page). Maybe your comment inspired me to stick out the sluggishness, but that's about it ;) No worries.
  7. What does that have to do with anything ? I'm confused. I was postulating that the way the voice work is set up could be used as a guideline to create the same thing for DAO. Apparently not for this game. They wouldn't of changed it otherwise. Maybe it still works for other games. I guess I should of said "Silent protagonists are a thing of the past [for games like these]."
  8. That so ? Well all the better then. Like I said before, it's not that I even use them all the time, in verbal or written dialog. Probably especially written dialog because I do think more about what I'm saying because I'm writing it before I send it out. It's just censorship in general that irks me on some level. Stating that you don't like the mod and why shouln't be a big deal. As long as you're not hateful or idiotic. That wouldn't be considered constructive criticism, just a person stating their opinion. Just nip it in the bud then ? If it reallys works in derailing all the blantant negativity I guess it's worth it. I'll still always be a little leery though. Never said I wasen't willing to except them, just that some of them seem a little odd and too much. I'm not 100% privy to all the remarks and things that are said as you are though. I can imagine that you guys have thought of lots of things to implement, and I'm glad you know the system isn't perfect. I'm sure they are. And I am as well. Blantant hatred should be ignored/punished/deleted etc. I'll stop beating the dead horse for now though. Thanks for your time and comments. Ah, I found it now. Overlooked it before. Switching it seems to have cleared up most of the lagging and loading. Cheers. :)
  9. In the end, yes, it's annoying. Doesn't change the fact that it shouldn't be allowed. Unless it's done over and over, or in a extremely hateful manner. Expressing your opinion on a mod shouldn't be blocked or censored just because you don't like it or didn't add something constructive. Obviously if a poster is blantantly flaming or trolling they should be stopped. Which should be a simple thing for a moderator to find out no ? Just look at that posters history right ? I don't know. Never said it should. But a few words here and there shouldn't be a big deal. When you look at it like that I suppose it makes sense. It just seems too much when coupled with the other forms of censorship. The skinbox thing ? Not interested in paying to switch a forum color. Thanks anyway. j I'm plenty capable of expressing myself without using profanity. Doesen't mean I shouldn't still have the option if I want to use it. Everybody on this site should be an adult anyway. And if they aren't, it still shouldn't matter. Because there is no way they have true virgin ears if they are at least 13 years old and have access to the internet. Again, I wasen't advocating wanton use of it, just the allowance to let a few fly here and there, similar to casual conversation you might have with your friends. It's all well and good to rein in trolling. But throwing in one or two off topic observations shouldn't be a big deal. Unless, yes, you do it all the time to many different people. Which, again, could easily be identified by a moderator. *sigh* It's never been my intention to troll. Only to express my opinion on this topic. If you feel I'm only here to try and get a rise out of somebody you are mistaken.
  10. Not sure what has recently happened to the forums (heh, I say "recently" but this has been happening to me for a few months now), but the pages are incredibly slow to load. Even now, I'm typing up this text for this post in my microsoft wordpad because the message box for the text slowly ticks along as I type it in. I don't see how this can be anything I have done, because I haven't changed anything about my internet options, preferences, blocked sites, etc. Everything is the same as it was the last time the forums were working for me correctly. The Nexus sites themselves are fine, it's only the forums. Any ideas what could be causing it ? Is it only me ? And now to my thoughts on censorship. The image sections have already been censored, and now it's the comments turn ? I made another thread a few months back when the image section was changed asking why and I still say the answer is lackluster at best. You guys wanted to try and limit the amount of nude and pornographic images in the section. Okay. But you allowed them for so long with no change, and still allow them I'm told in another section, although I can't find it (and haven't really looked because I don't come to this site for porn; there are plenty of other easier ways to find it on the net without having to resort to coming here for it). I'm just not keen on the idea of censoring at all. And make no mistake about it, it's still censoring, no matter how one would like to sugarcoat it. I'm plenty capable of filtering out which images I want to view and don't want to. It's not necessary for you to do so for me. Now the comments. Do you guys seriously get numerous amounts of complaints from modders something to the tune of "they hate my mod and they told me so" ? I'm all for cracking down on blatantly obscene or rude comments, but a little allowance should be in order. Stopping modders from getting their feelings hurt should not be your job. And throwing in a few thoughts about something that isn't entirely relevant to the mod shouldn't be a gigantic deal either. You've ran the site basically the same way for years and almost seem to be moving towards blanket censorship. To me, that was one of the great things about these sites, that you allowed just about anything and didn't care what anybody thought about it. What's next, no more adult mods at all without a paid membership ? I don't think you can do that, so you won't. So that would mean no more adult mods of any kind ? On games that are already made explicitly for adults anyway. And by 'adult mods' I'm not just reffering to nudity/sexual type content. This would also include violence/language/etc. Anything that's too much for the younger audience to understand, comprehend, handle, or truly enjoy. That would probably be the next to last straw for this user (and many others I'm sure) for coming to these sites at all. You would just be BioWare/Bethesda social site with a different skin were all that to come to fruition. From this mod's comment section: Wow, I hardly feel that was "that much stuff" or spam. Two tiny paragraphs, not an entire post like this one. But as I stated at the top of this post, the forums are really messed up for me, thus I was a little hesitant about coming in here making a new post, but I'm more than happy to suck it up a little and deal with the sluggishness if I absolutely positively must. Was I not appropriate in my expression of my opinion ? It was only a small thought on another users comment. I guess not in terms of that new TOS rule about not posting things relevant to the mod at hand, but that goes back to the problem with the forums and how fast they load for me. It's not as if I've been going around to as many mods as I can throwing in tidbits about how the site is run. Regardless, I'll bring all future greivances to this section from now on, and just deal with the slow running forum. To me this would seem to suggest that forum censorship shouldn't be bothered with either. I'm mostly referring to language. Adult language should fully be allowed, especially considering that all three games of the Nexus are rated M for Mature. Meaning they are ALL intended for adults, and so nobody should be offended if they happen upon swear words in a post. And if they are I would question why they play games such as these three in the first place. Or simply point them to the above quote: "Move on and ignore any content that you believe may be below you". Sounds reasonable enough to me. I'm not saying that somebody going off on a crazed swearing tangent shouldn't be reined in, but if a s**t, f*ck, or variations thereof are thrown in for a little spice to the post why not allow it ? Seriously, tell me that 95% of the population of the US/UK/Europe/Asia don't swear at least a little on a daily basis during casual conversation or observations. Anyway, hope I don't sound like I'm rantly madly or attacking anybody. Because that's definitely not my intention. These are simply my own observations and thoughts. Nothing more, nothing less.
  11. Just had to come back and say something else now that we know DA 2 will have a fully voiced main character. I think it's kind of funny that BW is now switching to a fully voiced character. Had enough of an outcry from the fans I see. The silent main character is a thing of the past. It was fine when it was done before, but it should be left there and not brought forward into future games as I've mentioned before. Hopefully, now that the character will be fully voiced in DA 2, it will be that much easier to create a talking PC for DAO. I'm assuming they will use the same toolset right ? I don't remember reading anywhere that they were changing the engine that runs the game. So in essence, a modder should be able to "copy" what is done in DA 2 and implement it in DAO (still probably not a simple task, but it should be a little easier with a "blueprint" of sorts by looking what is done for DA 2). If not, we should definently be able to use our own voice for Hawke with a simple sound file swaps no ? All the animations will be vanilla, so hard part will be done. I'm no expert, as I've stated. I'm only postulating.
  12. There isn't one for a male mage. Can't really think of one that can be made into an encounter either. Unless somebody used one of the random females in the tower.
  13. Sure. I did. Had plenty of great fun with Tomb Raider games. Lara's "pixels" were just a small side bonus though. The platforming, puzzle solving, and story were the real draws. I'll just agree to disagree. Never said what I was saying is fact anyway. Only my opinion.
  14. Maybe, during sexual attraction in general. But were talking about a video game avatar here. When it's presented in the way that quote I used is, yes I think it is. Whether intened or not, is still pretty much is IMO. And it's odd huh ? Why's that ? Am I the one with some deep seeded psychological problem ? http://thenexusforums.com/public/style_emoticons/Dark/tongue.gif Heh, that's not even close to a good comparison for your point.
  15. In the disc editions of Dragon Age: Awakening sold at retail, there was a printed card, shown with a blood red dragon similar to Dragon Age: Origins's, with a date of February 1, 2011. Due to EA's statements of a new Dragon Age title coming out in the first quarter of 2011, it is a strong possibility that it could be Dragon Age 2 This from wikipedia. I'd say it's a sure bet it'll be out sometime in 2011.
