  1. If Bethesda/Valve had ever polled their community and found a better way to test the waters, this could have a gone a hell of a lot more smoothly, and possibly succeeded, if done correctly. They didn't do it correctly. No matter how you feel about paid mods, the execution was terrible, unexpected, and unwanted. I've no doubt they'll try again, taking into account what they've learnt. Maybe next time it'll be a different enough approach that people might accept it? Who knows.

I do know that Bethesda just sort of got beaten into submission by their community, and I do feel a little bad for them, but they also brought it on themselves when they didn't take the community they were trying to appeal to into actual account in the process.

I just wanted to add, as well, that I've appreciated how you've personally handled the situation the past few days.

  2. You just keep doing what you're doing Robin.

Without the nexus, most modders these days (even those of us who branched out to our own servers and services) would never even have got their start in modding, let alone be sitting here to whine about how they think that receiving a theoretical maximum 5% of of a 25 cent mod's profits means you've sold your soul to the devil.

They all like to forget what you're doing for them on a daily basis, or what it takes for you to continue doing it.

I think you've been pretty damned transparent from start to end. All in all, it just goes to show how bad a few users are at reading comprehension.

  3. That's great news!

It's a wonderful feeling to know that some of the big game devs out there do realise they have a modding community, and even more so to know that they're so enthusiastic about it.

Obsidian's love of mods was plenty apparent with Fallout New Vegas anyway.

I personally think their choice to use the Unity engine is another great step. I've followed Unity since its early stages, and even in the early stages it was a powerful and versatile engine.

And good news for you too! Congrats on becoming the official one stop shop!

  4. i am sure that they will allow you to keep playing after the game is over at some point. because there are so many different places to go and explore that requiring us to explore everything before we decide to end the main storyline is just stupid. and i think they realized that in fall out 3. so i dont think anyone should worry about that.

Yeah, but "they" aren't the same people. Maybe Bethesda learned their lesson but this is Obsidian we're talking about. A different can of worms.

  5. Okay, I've been looking around, as you do before requesting a mod, and I couldn't really find anything to match what I'm looking for.

So, I was wondering if someone would be able to make (or direct me toward a very similar outfit that I can recolour myself, but not retexture because I am not good enough for that) the outfits in the pictures below. I'm referring to the two girls with the purple and turquiose (cerulean?) skirts.

If anyone thinks they might be interested I can probably dig up some higher quality source material to work from.

    Thanks.

  6. Actually, it was Ryk's simple dress that made me write the topic. Since when I saw it I thought that it was quite close to an Alice dress, but after I downloaded it and tested it I realised, on closer inpspection, that there were quite a few things that would need to be remeshed or retextured because they're just not right.

I am a total idiot when it comes to working with meshes and textures, it's not that I haven't tried; it just seems to be outside of my ability to grasp, and hence I ended up coming here.

I guess I can at least give retexturing a go.

  7. Well, I've looked around quite a bit and, while I've found some vaguely similar outfits as part of various sets I haven't found an actual Alice outfit.

So, unless somebody knows where I can get an already made one, I'd like to request that someone make one for the HGEC body (Preferably between bust sizes A and D)

Here are some source pictures for you to work from, anyone who might be willing.

Of course, some versions of the dress are 'sexier' than others. I don't mind whether you choose to make a sexier version or a more Disney style one (or maybe both?)

Thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time to read the post. :)
