  1. So I tried this for my manually installed mods are not showing threw the steam 2k launcher. I got a "could not find Defaultengine.ini forcing shutdown" so I would not advise doing this. I am happy that I saved those files to another folder and just replaced them back. Tried using other launchers to where you can pick your mods and launch but the game goes into "Not responding" and never comes out and launce the game.. Only way I can play WOTC is threw the steam 2k launcher but without the manually installed mods  Just a note if I edit my XComGame\Config\DefaultModOptions.ini as described above the mods will work but than I do not get any of my steam mods working (and I have many of them) I know not how to add those to the ini file nor would I try putting so many in. I have tried everything I think I am just out of luck. I wholeheartedly recommend using the Alternate Mod Launcher. I've been using versions of it since a month or so after XCOM 2 came out. https://github.com/X2CommunityCore/xcom2-launcher/wiki/Installation This appears to only work for Steam, not GOG. It keeps asking me for the Steam version (which I do have, but have no wish to use). To answer the other user's question on why they've made this so difficult, I believe it's to encourage users to use and buy the Steam version as Firaxis clearly wants to keep a hold and track users and they can't do that on GOG. It's a discouragement tactic on the sly I've seen used several times by game and other companies. It don't stop users from playing a modded game, it simply puts most people off who don't want to go to the trouble. If they wanted to make it as easy for non-Steam users they could; it would be easy. They simply don't want to, probably due to higher ups and marketing directed them this way. And if too many users find ways around it, they'll make it harder still until no more profit can be made.
  2. I`m sure I`m saying nothing new, but Paid modding will kill the altruistic and wonderful modding of people whom, for years, did what they did because they ENJOYED IT, and simply wanted to pass it on. Any kind of `forced` or mandatory `pay for mods` will kill it dead. The modding scene is already in after-actions agony from the failure Steam started and it saddens me to hear that Bethesda intend to try again. Once Bethesda succeeds (if they do) every other gaming House will. I`m talking from a gut feeling and a little experience of the world and how it works. Just my two pennies. The golden age of pc gaming will truly die. p.s. Even a good old friend of mine is reconsidering building a new gaming pc and going back to consoles because of this whole greedy debackle.
  3. I didn`t realise the Nexus was British. That`s nice to know.

Just the reality. males are far more into games than females, despite what the feminists say. And it isn`t because of bullying or anything like that. That`s just the way it is- Nothing wrong with that.

But why hide your gender in a poll that isnt` going to show who you are? that makes no sense or is just paranoia. I think the sexes poll is probably quite accurate relatively. Oh, 49 here by the way. I thought there were more of us, though it`s interesting how some were too busy to vote.
  6. I don`t understand how bethesda can say they hate DRM, yet they force everyone to use Steam to play their games. Sure, they let Oblivion go un-Steamed, but after that everything was Steamed, which is DRM. Why , if they so don`t like DRM, didn`t they make a non-Steam and Steam versions? would`ve loved that. They`re not making sense and I don`t trust it.
  7. Well i`m glad Valve and Bethesda backed off. I feel this would have killed modding. A friend of mine nearly cancelled having a pc made because of this. One of the things he loved was the idea of mods and suddenly having to pay extra on top of already expensive games was putting him right off. We don`t mind paying a donation when we can afford it, but we liked the altruistic attitude of modding. Also, i never gave modders a hard time for buggy mods cos they were free. I would not be so nice if I had to pay. I find it strange the bethesda say they hate DRM yet they force Steam (which I hate), so i don`t quite believe their words.
  8. I`ve been having the exact same problem. Will try some of the ideas here. Thanks.
