Why can't they get it right? I've played a lot of games with out this constant crashing. Are there employees slightly less competent than other companies? get it right bethesda! :wallbash: Thats all not includeing the numerous times it has crashed before. ZableBlaze
You should hire a team of programmers and modelers and totally show Bethesda how it should be done.
bben46
You are blaming Bethesda for something on your computer. Since Beth can't test the game on every possible combination of hardware and software, there are bound to be some problems. Crashes are a part of the PC experience. It's the game's way of telling you that you need to take a break. There will always be some crashes, all we can do is minimize them. Save often, it will keep the frustration level down. Anything running in the background can cause a crash. Especially a program that likes to call home, such as an antivirus program that updates without warning, or an instant messaging program. Start by disabling everything that accesses the internet when you play. that includes the Vonage, Skype, IM, xfire and anything that calls in or out. Many programs use a auto update feature - such as HP printers (how often does your printer driver need updating?)MS auto update can cause crashes. Then look for programs that run in the background, they are stealing time from the game and if they don't give control back quick enough - crash. MS indexing service, antivirus progs that scan everything in the background, Auto defrag programs, Scheduling programs all steal cycles from the game. Any of these can cause crashes. After you have cut down the crashes caused by external stuff, start looking at your mods. You probably won't be able to get rid of all of them, but you can minimize them. MaistoHelix
Crashes are a part of the PC experience. It's the game's way of telling you that you need to take a break. Yeah its the same with my dog,if he stops moving i usually dont look at him for a couple of days, then when i see him again he's back to normal. Its his way of telling me i gave him too much attention... Although you are right and pc's can become a pile of data its mostly the game prgrammers fault, they either lack the time to test properly or the resources, most programmers are dismissed after the project.leaving a sceleton team to test...i know this because i used to do this type of work.. Just look at this game,i played it without the first patch,it was a nightmare especially in tunnels/sewers.. Then after 5 days the patch came out....so they knew something was wrong before they actually started selling the product...this is called malpractise.. Luckily it was a good patch,i almost didnt crash anymore, just on annoying moments.. Then the new patch came out last week,VATS is too slow to use properly now,i still crash sometimes and the bugs are still present.. I have about 6 other games on this pc and they almost never crash,my system is very stable...but Fallout3 is still crashing regurarly.. Its amazing to see so many game developers producing a pile of crap and then selling it succesfully! Fallout3 is like an Italian car,it looks great,it feels great but its allready rusting and the lights dont work.....

Philthy
aint that bad you say.... '89-'90 LaForza and i quote from TruckTrend, "Yes. What we call the LaForza-Italian for "the force"-was originally designed by Tom Tjaarda (DeTomaso Pantera, Ferrari 365 California) in the mid-'80s. But it was too much (or too little) too soon; the luxo-SUV market had yet to really blossom, plus there were quality and money problems. Exit the first LaForza." the only reason it ran was because the motor was an american FORD v8 5.0 lmao and to think, these ran about $45k a pop. Leonick
Funny, the only problem I've ever had is with the unpatched launcher telling me the disc was not in -_-
Canadacdn
My advice to reduce crashes: stop using Games for Windows Live. If you bought the DLC off of GFWL, just move the Anchorage .esp files into the Fallout 3 folder and run it as a mod package. I've had no crashes at all since I stopped using GFWL. Stupidguy
:stupid: I don't use any mods i don't have auto updates i don't have anti-virus running. I practically never have crashes with other games. Don't tell me to try to design and produce a game. Considering the fact they all probably when to school for it. Also don't defend a game company because they make something that entertains you. So its not me, It's bethesda. Sorry if it upsets people who put there souls into the companies products. Oh also how is a game crashing my Comp telling me to take a break? Thats the dumbest thing i have ever heard. Especially considering the fact i only played for 30 minutes and incase you missed it i said "Thirty Minutes" I have hardly any processes in the background to. The way my comp tells me it need a break is over heating. It's not a student who will go until they crash. I don't think i have ever played a game until it over heated come to think of it. The crash represents poor optimization. Maybe if they didn't focus on there Xbox version so much.... by the way just a side note: All there games do this :wallbash:

Have you ever considered the fact that if ALL their games are doing this to you (apart from the fact that they would be out of business by now), there is one common element - YOU and your PC? Have you also ever considered that there are a great many more of us who have NOT had these problems? Hmm, see where I'm going with this? Step back, relax, read the advice here and do some research. If you're not willing to do that then uninstall the game and stop whining.
