space butler
Just wondering if anyone has thought of trying to implement a VATS type system into Oblivion? Don't know if it would even be possible, I'm just assuming with the same engine as Fallout 3 and what appear to be very similar editing tools it could be kind of 'cut and pasted' to an extent, then polished. Does anyone else think this a halfway decent idea?
FallenSword
I don't know about animations when you enter your VATS but you can actually change the UI of EQ
zeralesaar
This...would be rather difficult, I think; several things are problematic. Although FO3 and TESIV do share a number of similarities in engine and editing software, they are not the same game. VATS was designed for a shooting sort of game, and takes into effect things like locational damage, gun type, distance, etc. This would be largely pointless since TESIV only has locational damage when modded, and just freezing the game to pick a body part to attack would probably take longer and ultimately have little useful effect. In addition, since VATS was made for a gun system in mind, making it work the same way with a sword probably wouldn't work. (And yes, although you can use VATS with FO3 melee weaponry, it doesn't have much of an effect.) Somone might be willing to do this, but the end result would be a colossal mass of scripting and complexities that likely isn't worth the work put into it. :(
ihateregisteringeverywhere
One of the things OB doesn't share with FO3 is selecting targets by clicking on them. You'd have to use a menu for selecting the body parts. And that my dear is in my humble opinion bloody non-sense. Simply get deadly reflex if you're in need of gibed body parts, slo-mo and gallons of gore.
space butler
Those are some damn good points. Just thought this might be something a little different to the usual stuff. Come to think of it, it would probably be something like KOTOR combat, and I absolutely HATED those games. Thanks for the feedback though, I dont post very often and when I do I don't get a lot of replies. Plenty of views, just no one willing to chuck their thoughts into the mix. Muchas gracias or something to that effect...
