Madballista
Hi all! I was just trying to remove those painfully large backpacks off my character, as it seems he's slouching over because of the heavy weight  ANYWAYS, the question I'm asking is how to remove the backpack from these big guns. Is there a simple way? Or does it require mesh editing through Blender and the programs similar to it. Ooooor, alternately, would it be possible to shrink the backpacks? Thanks! Balletic
I was just about to post the same question! I remember doing something like this in Oblivion with just clicking options but I'm having no luck here in the GECK.
PimpBot420
I noticed under the weapons window there's a flag labeled "Hide Backpack." The only weapons that have this flag set are the ones with backpacks. (Minigun, gatling laser, flamer.) I'd try unchecking that box. Get to the weapons by going Items > Weapons in the object window. That is what I tried to do in the GECK but it didn't work. If I recall correctly that is how it was done in Oblivion though. Like if you wanted to remove a saddle from a horse, you just went in and unchecked those boxes. I tried editing Eugene the minigun by unchecking that 'hide backpack' box but the backpack was still there when I logged back in and got it out of my locker. :(
MRG
Try loading the mod last, so that no other mods will have the backpack on. You could also try reverse engineering the below mod which does exactly what you are asking: Remove Backpacks:http://fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=730 -MRG
Pyro Paul
the easy way to remove back pack.in geck make a 'null' texture. a basic texture which is nothing but an alpha channel.in geck open the intended object and edit the model. under the textures field, change the texture the 'backpack' is using and apply the 'null' texture. this will 'remove' the back pack from visual sight. although it does not acctually remove the mesh of the back pack or how the player would walk if there was a back pack. the 'remove back pack' check you are testing in geck is acctually a mild asthetic change making any appearal which uses the 'back pack' slot to visually disappear, being replaced by the weapons back pack instead. however since very few 'backpack' items exist in the default game you will probably never really see this. only will you see it with mods which can possibly add 'backpacks' into the game.
