Odd scene/follower dialogue issue

Hello!
I've got a scene which is triggered from an idle. The scene is between the follower I'm making and a unique npc. And it all works great! The scene is played and a quest stage is set upon completion. Afterwards I'm able to speak to my follower and everything is ok.

The problem: IF I run away from the follower/npc while their scene is playing, the next time I talk to the follower, the follower options will show, but I'm not able to click them(or use E). Going into a new cell corrects the problem. In game I see that the scene is complete, and the quest stage is set correctly as well.

 

One more piece of information, when I have the issue and talk to the follower, the last dialogue from the scene shows up on the bottom of the screen as a subtitle.

 

Anyone know what the problem could be?
