If you use the search button (all forums, over 30 days) you'll find several topics based on 'which is the best house', 'which is the best stronghold' etc.

I suggest you look at a couple. It's really a matter of taste. I have played all three and each has advantages or disadvantages.

If you are playing a character that specialises in magic, go for house Telvanni. Otherwise I suggest Redoran. In both cases you can use a glitch to join Hlaalu as well when you become Hortator. If you don't begin a stronghold until after you are in both houses you can choose which stronghold quests you'd prefer to do. Either way you end up with two strongholds.

IMO

Telvanni :- pros - good for magic; cons - stronghold hard to reach, many early quests boring

Redoran :- pros - councillors all convenient, more variety in quests; cons - no rewards for several quests, stronghold hard to reach

Hlaalu :- pros - convenient stronghold, rewards for all quests; cons - you can join them anyway; several of the quests can be done whether or not you are a member of the house; Crassius Curio!

There are six great houses in Morrowind: Hlaalu, Redoran, Telvanni, Indoril, Dres, and Dagoth. They are simply factions in Morrowind and each competes for money and power. You can join either Hlaalu, Redoran, or Telvanni. Redoran looks for fighting skills, and is dedicated to tradition, honor, and moral values. Telvanni looks for magic skills, and is very isolated from the rest of Morrowind. They are iconoclastic and desire wisdom and mastery in solitude. Hlaalu is the least traditional of all of them, they desire thieving skills in their members. I guess you could say that they're the most 'liberal'. They don't want tradition, but instead want to change with the times. They aren't very moral, but they are loyal to the Empire, and always promote free trade and religion.

EDIT: Malchik covered the gameplay aspects and I covered some lore aspects.

Redoran seems best for my nord crusader, thanks a lot

Absolutely. Also, you might want to double up with the Imperial Legion. You'll get some good starting armor from them when you complete their first few quests, and there isn't too much wandering around while you do the Deathshead Legion quests. I think the farthest you go is Ald Velothi, which is only about ten or fifteen minutes away.

I take it then that you have dropped your other character who lacked Corprus Disease?

Check out the thread 'construction question' or something like that, now in spoilers. You can get two strongholds, though you only build one. The second sort of magically becomes yours if you follow my instructions.

BTW you can get a second construction contract by picking the Duke's pocket. You can even deliver one each to two stronghold builders and get told that construction will start shortly by both. However although you will be recognised as owner of both only the one you started first will give you quests.

The other remains an open quest in the journal, even when it is finish!

So I wouldn't bother!
