neunen
im still reasonably new with blender so i hope i dont give any bad info but:to make a normal map in blender, press ctrl+alt+B (with your cursor in the 3d window) and then it will ask you what you want to bake (make sure to have a blank image loaded over the uvmap) if your main texture is loaded over the uvmap it will bake the normal over top of it, but dont worry, it didnt save it, you can just save the normal as a different file and then reload the main texture. and if you need to make the texture less shiny, just lower the normal maps alpha in gimp or photoshop. its looking great by the way! dthumb
@neunenThanks for the instruction on normal maps buddy. But I can't use it for the existing mesh, it turns the helmet blocky and pointy on some edges. Maybe later when I make another model. @SGDIf I saw that 2nd pic while I played MGS2, I would have pobably pointed at deepthroat's crotch and laugh my @$$ silly. heheGrayfox is about to get an upgrade! Kudos to both of you! :thanks:
neunen
ive never had too much luck using the normal maps i get from blender myself either, i guess its meant for if you make a high poly model, bake the normal and then create a lower poly version, using the normal map to give the high poly look. but if you take the normal map that youre using (generated from the texture i assume) and then lower parts of the alpha it might help with the bumpy shine. cheers

SGD
Hey, now you have a good idea for the normal map for the helmet, as in you can gauge how shiny/dull it should be by those shots up there. Just think of it as medium indoor lighting....
dthumb
It's been a while since I posted on my own thread. Hehe. Sorry buds, I effed up the armor. I knew using vanilla mesh would cause troubles when modeling the armor. Chests plates looked like saggy t*ts compared to SGD's reference or any other reference I got on the Cyborg Ninja. I'm going back to the drawing board, literally. Pencil and paper on hand. Then completely start from scratch.I guess that's not entirely bad news, since I can make it available for people who don't own the DLC right? Which one do you prefer, masculine ala Olga's Ninja Suit? Or Greyfox's skinny and waif suit? I'm thinking of a mix of both, but overall, more bulky. What do you think?
