The Heart's Confession

Saw this thread and wanted to post something. This poem is one of many from three years ago. Most were morbid, kind of think wow what the hell at them now. This one is kind of contrast to the others. Wrote it shortly after a friend told me she loved me, so here it is. Enjoy.

All my life I wish to feel true love.

 

Day by day living life alone

 

I felt like an empty soul

 

When you said you loved me

 

I was caught of guard

 

A knight lacking sword and shield

 

My mind in turmoil

 

Unable to understand my emotions

 

Was what I felt love?

 

Or lust in a beautiful disguise?

 

When I looked at you my good friend

 

I saw only our friendship

 

I can not return the favor

 

I hope you understand when I said “No”

 

Perhaps I am not meant to love

 

Perhaps I am meant to be alone

 

Maybe I’ll never know…
