How to attack as animals in the newest update (Tutorial)

As of a specific update released in September 2020, Rockstar changed the control scheme for animals to use the one for horses. This caused plenty of abilities for animals such as attacking to be removed.

 

But, this tutorial will show you how to get the attacking ability (and other abilities) back.

 

1. Download Lenny's Simple Trainer (https://www.rdr2mods.com/downloads/rdr2/mods/7-lennys-simple-trainer/).

2. Extract its contents to your main game directory.

3. Download Rampage Trainer (https://www.nexusmods.com/reddeadredemption2/mods/233).

4. Extract its contents to your main game directory.

5. Start the game.

6. Enable the "Enable old animal controls" option via Lenny's Simple Trainer.

6. Use any trainer to change to any animal that can attack (e.g. Cougar).

7. Approach any NPC and press the F key or the left mouse button.

 

Also, you need to be walking or running in order to attack; you cannot attack while standing still.
