pizzalover3000
Everyone knows about weapon prefixes in RPG's right? well here is a mod to add not only just a fancy prefix to the name but a stat change as well! First off we have the weapon manufacturing name: BrotherHood Distributers Co.Favouring power over ammo, the Brotherhood produce guns that pack a punch so as to not waste any ammo Enclave Manufacturing Tm.Favouring ammo over power, the Enclave Manufactures guns that carry tons of ammo and have quick reload speeds Raider Guns Co.Made during the Pre-war times and refurbished by Raiders, Raiders Guns are not hard to come by and are good for all around quick situations. Holmstock Manufacturing Co.After the war the remants of Vault 119 came across an old shipping depot and turned it into an advanced weapons manufacturing plant. These guns usually have unique ammo types to them and can be quite deadly in the right hands. Kore Producers Inc.All around good guns made by a mysterious source up north. Lot's of ammo and lots of damage, these guns are the best bet for any gunfight.------------------------- Next we have the value of the gun:Useless: 50% damage 50% ammoCommon: 100% damage 100% ammoRare: 150% damage 150% ammoLegendary: 200% damager 200% ammo------------------------- This means the if you have the 10mm pistol it could be any number of combinations:Useless Kore 10mm pistolLegendary Holmstock 10mm pistolCommon Enclave 10mm pistolThis mod would add 100's of weapon combinations each with a unqiue stat change, wether that be ammo cap, damage or ammo type.------------------------- The mod will be in modules based upon weapon manufacturer, so if you want to play with just Brotherhood weapons you will only need the Core module and the Brotherhood module. The Raider weapons will be all the vanilla weapons with the appropriate stat change for each value, this what will be known as the Core package.------------------------- WARNING: My intent is for this to replace all the weapons of the game, aside from the quest weapons so as soon as you enable the Core module it will delete every unique weapon in the game and you will be left with just Raider weapons until you enable the other modules.------------------------- I will be building the mod with CALIBER installed so some of the weapons will feature the other ammo but rest assured that just because the 10mm pistol is firing some other ammo it still is considered that Weapon Manufacturer's "10mm pistol"------------------------- If you like what you see or want more details drop me a line and see what my progress is at! plz support!!FUTURE: add armors, NV support------------------------- Disclaimer: this is a mod i have not tested nor will test before release. I have the right to stop the progress of this mod at any point for any reason that I see fit
pmmurphy
I like the idea, i just feel like the whole concept is really rough design and is going to take away from gameplay and enjoyment. Yes your adding lots of combination of guns, but they aren't much different from the other. They just deal more damage and have the word legendary next to them. pizzalover3000
pmmurphy: you are right on a few things: it will take away from the gameplay balance, the game was tweaked and tested to get the right balance for every weapon. I am making this mod for my personnal enjoyment and I feel that if I enjoy it I am sure others will too. After I am done making all the modules I will test the game and do a complete run through, taking careful notes of things I enjoyed and things I did not. Then I will go back and tweak those things. Yes this will make the game unbalanced and even though the guns will not be too different from each other, I already had a friend tell me his frustration between choosing a brotherhood Rare gun over a Raider Legendary gun. If you feel this mod will take away from your enjoyment then don't use it but if you think this is a great excuse to do another run through then by all means use it. The combinations to this point are something like 1786 (dont quote me) I love looting and I felt Fallout 3 needed a better way to do that so I made this system. And i am trying my hardest to make sure that Legendary and Rare guns are hard to come by while Common and Useless guns show up everywhere
pmmurphy
why do people take critiques so seriously. Ok if its for your enjoyment. Then do what you want. Ignore me. I was trying to contribute to hopefully imrpove your design I don't really care about anything else. My objective is not to turn down your idea, but to make it better. If all you get is one indivuals feedback in developing a design designs are usually realy really really bad. It is best to get many different views on a design to tweak to across a wide scale of different minded gamers and non-gamers. That way your design is truly a good design. If your not interested in making a good design. Meerly ignore my posts and move on. I don't have to give a constructive critique if i don't want to. Doing that requires me to spend hours out of my day to play and test your mod. That requires me to stop doing what i am doing on a daily basis and rework my schedule to allocate time for you. Where i will not be paid for. Then i have to sum up a summory and analysis. Do all these things JUST FOR YOU. With no reward or incentive in return. Critiques are rare to come by. All because you get them on the nexus doesn't mean you will continue to get them. You should not argue with someone who gives you a critique, you should accept it and be forward with them. By argueing with me not only does it not make me want to continue to crituqe and not only do i not want to download your mod. But other people who read this forum wont want to either. I thank you for your critique and for telling me a few things. You are correct that all I am adding to the game is a BetterPrefix but I felt the adventure was well worth the time and effort. When I was debating whether I should attempt this mod or not I figured that if CALIBRE was such a big success that this mod would be too.
CountFuzzball
I, for one, like this idea. While in a way, it would destroy balance between the weapons individually (I'd hate to get hit with a Legendary Brotherhood Plasma rilfe!), it does add a lot more diversity to the weapon stats between weapons. The idea of weapon classes is a quite neat idea, tbh. i.e Fast firing, low damage, quick reloading Enclave weapons, versus Slow firing, high damage, slow reloading Brotherhood weapons, with the Raider guns wedged in the middle as an all rounder. Whether the prefixes are 'better' (what other mod out there adds prefixes anyway?), is debateable.

I liked the weapon mechanic in Borderlands 2 so much that I want to try and develope one for a game I really enjoy. And you are very percise on what will happen in the game: Enclave are getting Enclave weapons and Brotherhood are getting BrotherHood weapons. But addressing to your fears about being shot with a legendary weapon: The dev's of this game made a unqiue mechanic where the certain guns will not spawn until a certain level has been achieved. So when you first start off the Enclave and Brotherhood and other enemies will start with either Useless or Rare guns. As you hit a certain level the guns will increase to Common and Legendary.Today I was testing a Legendary Kore Dragon's Breath gun on the Megaton civilians... lots o' fun!!! sc0608023
To me it sounds like a thing that belongs only to mmo RPGs. It reminds me of Diablo and WoW...and a little bit of Badlands 2.
