MeguRyel
Hello there, after I enjoyed so many well-made mods on Oblivion I thought about modding myself, but for there is so much stuff for TES, I decided to try on Fallout. Of cause I started with something much to big for a noob to do, I read so many tutorials and am still confused because I just don't get it: I made a new face model on blender, figured out how to make .nif and made a new texture, but now I can't load them probarbly into the G.E.C.K. Keeps telling me a whole bunch of information I don't understand, it's so frustrating! Please tell me, what am I missing?? :wallbash:
SpeedyB64
Give a step by step of what you did. Then we can see where you went wrong. If you made a new face model for a character than you will need to rig and then format it for Fallout. BTW is it a special face? Like a new race or something? MeguRyel
Okay, sounds definately like I was taking this too easy ... I must apologize by the way for my English is not the best. Yep, I'm trying to make a new race, won't look too different to human but I want it to be another race. When I get better with modding, I would like to use it in another context, so I thougt it's smarter to make it as a new race instead of replacing another. I unzipped the .bsa files texture and meshes, copied the mesh file headfemale.nif and opened it with blender. I made some changes, that she would look more to my liking. Then I opened the texture for a female head and worked on it. I added a new texture in blender for the head, and rendering said it looks good, so I exported it and checked nifscope - no problem. And oh, I didn't remove the armature and all, I just changed the form a litte. Then, I made a new file in the data->mesh/texture and put in my mesh and texture. When I searched the internet for tutorials for making new races, I found one for oblivion, and it didnt look that difficult; I opened the Contruction Kit, Characters-> Races and klicked the menu for making a new race. When I tried to load the mesh, it kept telling me that te GECK-version is too old and that the UV-mapping was black and three or more things, and, well, couldn't see the mesh or texture. I hope I did nothing more without knowing, that`s all I remember :( Edit:I tried it once more, Geck says it's missing a Diffuse map and a Normal Map, when I choose the mesh and the texture from my file. On FaceGen-tab, it tells me "failed to load sub-surface mask".
