fortie
Ok so I know this gets asked a S#%? Load but anyway,I'm starting my game again. Can't seem to log up very many hours with my characters. Anyway I'm using my riverwood fishing shack mod and started a new character a nord called drake ravencrest now he uses normal clothes and boots with a steel sabre imperial bow and steel arrows with a travel cloak and backpack. His home base at the minute will be my mod. Anyway. How can I role play successfully as a nord living off the land and then joining the war effort (which side?) and taking over Skyrim. Amy help would be amazing. I also have all DLC'S
CabelD
Throughout the game you see many farmers migrating to the faction of their choosing to join their ranks. So, from what I can tell, your Nord, "Drake Ravencrest" sounds like he was born out of Skyrim with a name like that, or at least in the far West in the Reach. You need to clarify if he moved to Skyrim, or if he has lived here his whole life? Was he raised on the farm, or did he inherit it? What are his views on ideals like nationalism, government, and war? So let's break it down. Step 1. Born in Skyrim (Continue to Step 3 and 4)Step 2. Born in Other Tamerielic Kingdom (Continue to Step 3 and 4)Step 3. Raised on Farm. (Continue to Steps 5 or 6)Step 4. Inherited Farm. (Continue to Steps 5 or 6)Step 5. A true Nord believer. (Go to Step 7)Step 6. Not a nationalist. (Go to Step 9 )Step 7. Quarrel with the Imperials through past experiences? Why did he leave his other Kingdom, were there financial troubles? Who does he blame for these, or other problems he has faced? (Continue to Step 9)Step 8. Is this because he was born in another kingdom, or he believes in the Empire as his nation, not just Skyrim? (Continue to Step 9)Step 9. Religion. Is he a believer in the 9 Divines? Is he secretly a Daedric follower? Is he simply bitter to the Empire for giving into the Mer, or does he hate them for it? Judgement Day. So now that you have made it through this, hopefully not too complex step process you arrive on your choice. The Stormcloaks, powerful nationalists with a taste for freedom, or The Imperial Legion, a now weakened government that serves it's people, and tries to retain order. BONUS ROUND. Okay, so your character doesn't need to just fly off to go enlist, like "Hey I'm a farmer, this is some good ass onion! What is this rebellion I heard of? Let's go join them!" No! You need to slowly hear about what is going on, or something has to happen that will make your character want to join. Pretty much man, build a deep character, and build him well, otherwise you will lose interest quickly. Give him fears, desires, hopes, dreams, views on life. Don't make a Mary Sue, no one likes that *censored*. EDIT: Oh yeah, don't forget. Don't make your character the bravest, unless he was a feisty brat with a great adventurous childhood, and don't make him the toughest right away. When he starts out, remember, he is a footman, a farmer, and NOT the Dovahkiin. Let your Commanding Officer lead for a while, then grow a pair and rock the battlefield. Oh, and one more thing, after the war is over, you could settle back down, and find conflicts around you, OR you could never lose that feel for adventuring and war, so you wander the Kingdom in search for conflict. And always remember, War. War never changes. Cheers. Edited May 27, 2013 by CabelD
Guest deleted4349949
If you're into this kind of thing, I would also add a few 'realism' mods to help the game feel a bit more harsh and wild...Some of those include:Hunterbornhttp://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/33201/? Harvest Overhaulhttp://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/16553/? Frostfallhttp://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/11163/? Realistic Needs and Diseaseshttp://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/26228/? Just to name a few. Also, many are made to be compatible with each other, so you don't have to worry as much about conflicts. There's a pretty big divide in the community regarding the merits of 'realism' mods... some people see them as frivolous, tedious, and adding unnecessary restrictions to an experience that's supposed to be more about fun. Others see them as an aid to immersing yourself in the world and enjoy the extra attention required to keep warm, fed, and disease free. Personally, when I played a homeless, mentally unstable, drug-addicted wood elf shaman (never got to finish due to F'ing up my game with experimental mods.. but can't wait to try out that guy again!) the camping gear, fear of harsh weather, and constant exposure to disease really cemented the role-playing experience for me! fortie
@ CabelD I think I love you haha that's a heap of help. After reading it several times I have some finally come up with some answers for you. Drake was born in SkyrimHe was raised on a farm then moved to riverwood and established a small home and farm to sell to the locals and passing merchants. He is a believer in the 9 divines Extremely bitter against the empire for selling out talos. I think he will live a simple life then go investigate Helgen. I use the mod random alternative start so you have to investigate Helgen to start the Dragonborn quest line. Anyway he will live a simple life then join the stormcloaks, then he will go join the imperials upon getting the crown. I want to think of him either being adopted or living/growing up with his uncle? Maybe. Father was killed (assassination attempt?, for worshiping talos?, giving information about the Imprrials to the Stormcloaks?,)Kills (or atleast tries to) every thalmor patrol regardless, because of deep hatred for them, fears the Khajiit, something about them unsettles him. He will mainly use his bow at first, always been good at hunting so he will use this to his advantage then will work on one handed (hate two handed) will use light armour and clothes. I already use frostfall, haven't really tried ones that require you to eat and sleep though, don't want to really be half way through a cave then have to sleep, that breaks immersion for me. Sleeping while in a cave you would be most Likly captured.
