Modified piece of armor causes triangular textures/mesh to fill screen

I'm sure that this is a common thing, and probably a commonly known thing amongst modders, but I can't figure out what exactly is going wrong or the proper terminology to search for a solution.

I took a new armor mod posted on the nexus, and wanted to modify one little detail of the torso mesh. (This is my first time trying to do anything outside of nifskope.) After hours of messing with 3ds Max 2012, watching tutorials, troubleshooting why my work wouldn't export, I finally got just the "Cup" portion of the armor to export as a nif. Then, I opened several windows in nifskope and began changing some values like "has vertex colors" to make it match the original meshes "Cup" values as much as possible. Then removed, copied, pasted some branches around to add my modified "Cup" to the rest of the torso.

Anyways, I got it to what I thought was a finished product, loaded up skyrim, slapped on the modified armor, went to 3rd person, and immediately my screen goes black. As I move the camera around, I can see other sections of my armor, but the section I changed and edited is filling my screen with black triangular shapes shooting out from my character. I've seen this problem in other mods, but only in small doses.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I finally got that sorted out, but now I'm having a more difficult problem.

The "Cup" or chest piece, is now showing up jet black in game. Like the textures won't load. I have the correct texture path in nifskope. Every other piece of the armor in the nif shows up fine, but the one piece I modified does not.

I have tried "Has vertex colors" on "yes" and "no"

I have tried Mesh - Face Normals

Mesh - Update Tangent Space

I have the UV whatever set at 4097 (I think thats the magic number, sorry, I've been at this almost all day)

I've basically tried anything and everything that I've found scouring the interwebs. Unfortunately, I haven't found a problem identical to mine. Most people have an entire armor blacked out.

It's probably one of the shader flags on BSLightingShaderProperties. I'm not sure which one does this. Quickest way to fix it would be to delete your BSLightingShaderProperty from your cup and copy one from another piece of equipment with similar shaders such as another piece of cloth, or armor.
