OpenWorldAddict
There already a few mods out there that change the way you coduct yourself in combat such asSpell CombosArmor Effects MagicMagi Duel - Reborn I feel there are a couple more issues with the way you cast magic. Both of these harken back to the days of D&D, from which the first Elder Scrolls game: Arena, was envisioned. Problem 1: You can keep casting a spell even while an enemy strikes at you over and over and over until you or the enemy falls. This is unrealistic. The act of casting spells should take concentration, and that concentration should be broken if you take damage, as well as the casting of the spell should be broken. Solution: A Disrupt Spell effect. When you are casting a spell and take damage, your spell is disrupted and you can't cast any other spell for 5-30 seconds. With this, when your spell is disrupted, you better get away from the attacker fast. Of course this effect can decrease as you gain higher levels in the magic skills, which reflect being better at concentration. Problem: If I am not wrong, I think you can have as many favorites as you like, which means you can have hundreds if not thousands of spells ready to use in moments notice. This is not realistic. Spells need studying and memorizing to learn them. Because you cannot remember everything that you've ever learned or read, you have to decide what is important for your life at the time and use reference books for everything else. The same with magic. Magic users should only have a limited number of spell they can access at any one moment. If a Magic user doesn't have a spell that they need or want at the moment, they need prepare that spell, or re-memorize it. Solution:Prepared Spells or limited favorite spells: There is limit to how many spells you can favorite. This limit represents the capacity of your memory, so it might change from race to race, but can't increase or decrease over time. With this, you'll have to be very picky about what spells you bring with you to each circumstance. So that is all I can think of. There may be other things that can add more flavor and tactics to spell casting.
