Skree000
Its coming along nicely! Some tips: My first impressions would be to make the arms longer, and to have a close look at the structure of the helmet. If you can, see if you can export the existing Fallout 3 body mesh as an OBJ from nifskope. Import that body into your scene then (if this is max) hit ALT X to make it semi-transparent, like a template. From there you can geometrically shape your armor to conform to the body structure. tyokio
I used the box model I made to test the rigging method out as a base, but importing a Vanilla file will give me more direction to where things like the elbows, pelvis and where the arms/legs bend. also I'm using maya but I know how to do the same thing in maya. Baelkin
It's certainly improved already, at least to my tastes. I think it "feels" a lot better now, though there is always room for improvement (God knows I have trouble making anything final as there's always something that could be better. :) Would it be possible to get a 3/4 shot from the front and a side shot as well? That'd allow more precise criticism in terms of the various shapes and the "mechanics" of the armour if you will (ie. how stuff is attached and interact when moved). tyokio
Apologies for the double post but I have some progress to report... Firslty I decided to remove the side panels as I felt they looked out of place really. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y7/tyokio/nopanels.jpg Secondly I quickly rigged it and stuck it into the game to see how it looked, looked ok but I may need to ajust the width at some point. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y7/tyokio/SCREEN1-1.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y7/tyokio/SCREEN2-1.jpg Currently uv mapping it in max, should be moving to textures soon. EDIT: UV mapping completed, heres a small preview. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y7/tyokio/render-2.png
tyokio
Again I apologise for the triple post D: (I'm such a rule breaker I know) I do have some new updates though since the last post. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y7/tyokio...HOTSOFMODEL.jpg Fully rigged now c: All I need to do is create the texture properly and create some better normal maps which I have to admit I'm not good at either really.. but I will try my best. If I fail I'll hand it to some one who can do it better because I really feel like this model deserves a nice texture. Also I'm not to concerned with the arm clipping through the body any more. I was at first, but then I saw bethesda didnt really seem to care either http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y7/tyokio/Jericho.jpg
DogtoothCG
pardon, but could you explain your process of rigging? cause as far as i know the current niftools wont export rigging directly, and if i knew how :D then yay
tyokio
well I dont know how to do it in Nifskope, I hear its possible though. I rigged mine in 3ds max and exported straight into a nif file.
