Anyone wanna help on this project?

If anyone is interested in joining me on this would be cool. I am going to work on it on my free time as something fun to do since i really enjoy dabbling with gaming concepts. I plan to change alot of the games mechanics i will attempt to stay true to the lore as good as i can.... No promises, i only played fallout 3.

 

 

But the main idea for this mod. I have been searching the nexus, i see lots of people attempting to create their own mods. They create custom meshes they do voice acting. Lots of work gets put into these mods and people do nothing but tear them down and so on and so forth. So they get discouraged and stop progression on their mods and stop improving them.

 

Programming and all tech related fields (including game development and especially game development) not only that but artistic and creative fields take time and practice and you are simply going to make bad designs and fail from time to time. Your not always going to produce good results, but you should still enjoy what you are doing.

 

Well i want to find as many of these mods as i can and salvage their ideas and hard work. Find a creative way to implement it in one mod, make it FWE, MMM , WMK and Ironsights compatiable. Then implement them as deactivable or activable east eggs into the game. Or simply just console commands. I will fix the glitches if there are any, and rewrite the scripts that cause issues. Then after that i will balance the items added into the game and think of ways to implement them so they are useful. But i will keep the original design made from the original devleoper.

 

I will only use files i get permission to use. So it will be a job and a half tracking all these people down and getting their permission.

 

I plan to re-work the entire weapon/armor/damage/creature system in the game. Make it more my taste. I love bethesda games to death, but while playing them i felt it lacked a sense of strategy and tactical decisions. I always wanted that rush of knowing that i came up with this really clever design, but i never really got that. It was always about just hunting down all the quests and becoming a god (which has its charms too). So i want to completely redesign all the perks and add more perks change the leveling system all the creatures weapons armors etc etc etc. (slowly but surely).

 

But the theme of my changes will be sacrifice. If you build a charector, you must make sacrifices. Stealthy charectors cannot be tanks. Tanks cannot be stealthy. The way i go about doing this is un-determined.

 

This is a very long term project (if i have time to work on it). I am meerly posting it here to hopefully get some buzz and attract ANYONE who wishes to help. Send me a message with your email, all and everyone of any development skill is welcome. I will personally talk with you over skype and walk you through (as i learn it myself) the process of working on this project. I will find a task you can do and we can work on this together slowly but surely. It will takes lots of work and doing it myself idk if i have the patience to implement everything i plan to implement.

 

Also, all quests and stories will remain untouched. I will add some modded quests (with given permission) and fix them up as i wish.

 

As for how i will go about doing things, whether you like the idea or not, it is the easiest most logical way about doing this project given the fact i have a full-time job and i go to university. Most of my modding will be done simply with fo3 edit. I prolly won't use the G.E.C.K much. I won't add new textures or custom made 3d-models, i don't have the time to learn that stuff im a programmer not a 3d-modeling/texture artist. If i toy with scripts i am meerly just editing an already created script t odo what i can. I will abuse work-arounds, that will be documented throughout the game.

 

For instance, i will feature a mod known as Mutagen. Except i will remove the ability to get perks based off critical radiation, then i will change the perks it creates and make these perks completely inaccessiable unless you have a mutagen perk. So people who make science/medicine oriented builds in the game can create and inject themselves with mutagen created schematics. How i go about doing this, may not be as visually pleasing as you may want. I might skip the entire UI represenation and just unload tones of 0 weight notes in your inventory with completed quest logs. That is during the alpha/beta stages though. Basically i don't want to work in UI's or all these fancy graphical representations i am more concerned with functionality and doing what its meant to do the fastest and simplest way to do it.

 

If i can do this entire mod using mods that are already created and scripts already made for me and 3d-models that are already good enough and i have permission to do all these things. Then i plan to do it that way and i am going to make life easier on myself.

 

The point to iterating all these things is i figure if you have read this far you are atleast interested in this project. I don't see there being much know-how required to work on this project. It should be fairly simple to do this. All the scripting tasks i will do personally and won't ask anyone to figure them out unless they want to try. If you are interested and wish to help me with this very large scale project i plan to work on for fun on the side to hopefully speed things up. I am meerly just trying to create a game that I want to play. Fallout 3 has underlying structure of what i want in a video game and currently this is the fastest and easiest way to get the kind of game i want.

 

If you like the idea of combining strategic and tactical elements to a bethesda title (i will cater to causuals) then by all means, please help me! I have some interesting ideas, that before i actually start testing and working on i would appreciate if i had a group of individuals to rough out the concepts alittle that way i don't grow attached to new ideas.

 

But anyway, i want to make something fun and enjoyable and help feature all the hardwork tons of modders have tried to do and put them together in a coherent manner. If this kind of project interests you. Please contact me here on this forum via message.

 

Note, i am a student at university full-time and i also do full-time research at same university. I have programming projects of my own that i work on and the amount of time i can allocate this varies on a day-to-day basis. I also like to play fallout 3 myself.

 

This is going to be an insanely massive mod. It will change many many many things. It will start out as basic changes, but slowly and surely i plan to keep adding. I don't plan to contact any of the modders i wish to use as resources right now, but when the time comes i will. Right now i am putting out a post so people who may be interested in such a project may wish to help me. So i can get the game I want to play.

 

When this is in alpha stages i plan to make playthroughs on youtube for fun and just kinda enjoy myself for a while. I will constantly add more and new features as time progress and kinda just let it evolve into whatever i want it to.
