[WIP] PPSh-41 Submachinegun

I think it is pretty much what you are trying to do. Download the files and give the gun a spin. Should use correct grip, correct reload animation and also fire in bursts.

 

EDIT: I mean that give the Valhalla SMG found in the files a spin and see how it works.

 

My apologies for not making it clearer before, but I also tried the mod. It does exactly what I can do now; having a reload animation that removes the drum using the 2 hand automatic animations with full automatic fire. The only difference is I use the vanilla animations without any re-scripting and it works in 3rd person.

 

After I modified the combat shotgun mesh and exported it into nifskope, I used the process detailed here; I copy the NiTriStripsData from the new mesh and paste it over an existing vanilla mesh and delete any branches I didn't need. In my case, I used the chinese assault rifle. That tricks the game into thinking I'm holding a chinese assault rifle, when I actually have the PPSh-41. I use the 2 hand automatic animations with ReloadE and it works perfectly. At my current mod experience level, this works for me a lot easier than scripting new animations.

 

In the end both our ways work, but there is still the problem that I'm trying to come up with a solution to. The 2 hand automatic grip clips with the stock like this...

The problem I'm currently running into is full automatic firing and reloading doesn't work with the 2 hand rifle grip. You go to let out a burst, and you drop the weapon to your hip in a one handed grip and fire. One solution I want to try, but haven't had the opportunity yet, is to make a custom animation using your tutorial. Instead of adding a rifle reload to the 2 hand automatic grip I'm going to try to add an automatic reload to the 2 hand rifle grip. Weather that will fix the problem with automatic fire or not, I'm not sure. I'll have to see.
