How to update your tweaked mods

Have you ever downloaded a mod and realize that it doesn't fit your other mods? Then you tweak the mod so that it fits your taste. Then a few days later the author of the original mod released an update and now you have to do it all over again :verymad: :wallbash: :wallbash: . My question is, is there a better way?

Depending on what it is they are changing you can just change the original file name to something else by adding a one to it then open it in the geck find what you want and do the right click copy into the new MOD (that is set to active). But for somethings that just doesn't work, let me know what it is your trying to do and i may be able to guide you through it in PM (had some help with this awhile back so i understand the frustration

Simple really, I'm trying to change the weapon stats and leveled item list to add more ammo. I usually use FO3edit to edit because if I use GECK all the weapons have duplicates :wallbash: (here's what I did, I rename the modified one and extract the update to data file, in GECK I set the modified .esp as active). Btw the mod's name is Classic Fallout Weapons BETA.

and you're right about typing GECK
