anotherdiverdown
Yesterday evening I inaugurated my new PC with a freshly-modded FNV playthrough with the intention of pushing the game a bit harder than I had previously(I had mostly done "vanilla" runs with minor fixes added prior to this). Everything seemed to load correctly and I was able to proceed with little incident up until I neared the end of the quest I Fought The Law, where my game would crash roughly two minutes into the climactic assault on the prison on every single attempt I made for several hours. Even after parsing what was relevant to me on the New Vegas Nexus wiki, namely the "General Mod Use Advice" and "Mod Conflict Troubleshooting" articles, I'm still hitting that same wall as of this afternoon. My computer is a laptop prebuild(I know, I know, but I have space constraints in my current living situation and no desire to source parts with scalping at an all-time high) assembled and shipped just over a month ago. It was fully able to run New Vegas at over 100 FPS the entire time I played, so I am disinclined to assume this is a hardware issue. Nonetheless, in the interest of being thorough, here are some of its specs: Operating System: Windows 10 Home 64-bit (10.0, Build 19042) (19041.vb_release.191206-1406) Language: English (Regional Setting: English) System Manufacturer: Notebook System Model: NHx0DB,DE BIOS: 1.07.12 (type: UEFI) Processor: Intel® Core i7-10870H CPU @ 2.20GHz (16 CPUs), ~2.2GHz Memory: 16384MB RAM Available OS Memory: 16172MB RAM Page File: 10716MB used, 13648MB available Windows Dir: C:\Windows DirectX Version: DirectX 12 Card name: Intel® UHD GraphicsManufacturer: Intel CorporationChip type: Intel® UHD Graphics FamilyDAC type: InternalDevice Type: Full Device (POST)Device Key: Enum\PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_9BC4&SUBSYS_85351558&REV_05Device Status: 0180200A [DN_DRIVER_LOADED|DN_STARTED|DN_DISABLEABLE|DN_NT_ENUMERATOR|DN_NT_DRIVER]Device Problem Code: No ProblemDriver Problem Code: UnknownDisplay Memory: 8214 MBDedicated Memory: 128 MBShared Memory: 8086 MBCurrent Mode: 1920 x 1080 (32 bit) (144Hz)HDR Support: Not Supported Card name: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 TiManufacturer: NVIDIA Chip type: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Ti DAC type: Integrated RAMDAC Device Type: Full Device Device Key: Enum\PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1F95&SUBSYS_85351558&REV_A1 Device Status: 0180200A [DN_DRIVER_LOADED|DN_STARTED|DN_DISABLEABLE|DN_NT_ENUMERATOR|DN_NT_DRIVER] Device Problem Code: No Problem Driver Problem Code: Unknown Display Memory: 12048 MB Dedicated Memory: 3962 MBShared Memory: 8086 MB The game itself is a Steam version, which I have moved from the Program Files directory to the "Games" folder on my C-drive as suggested by the Nexus wiki. I own the current versions of all official DLC including the pre-order bonus content(Merc Pack, Tribal Pack, etc). Local files are fully verified as of this post. I manage my mods using Vortex and run the game through the NVSE executable, which has had the FNV4GB patch applied to it. I have checked and re-checked my load order using LOOT, cleaned what it recommended using FNVEdit, and excised a few mods it indicated as having broken navmeshes. The crashes seem to occur at what is, in my experience with the game, about the time the NPC soldiers finish off the remaining Powder Gangers in the courtyard and begin to all move into the admin building. If anything's likely to crash this game, it's probably a large group of high-res retextured character models all loading out of a cell at once- although, troublingly, the game refuses to boot without EVE enabled now, so I can't verify this hunch.2. While exploring the area previously, I noticed that the mod Electro-City added a hostage NPC to one of the cell blocks. However, disabling Electro-City did not prevent the crashes, and to my knowledge the NCR grunts, oddly, leave the cell blocks untouched during the raid, so this is probably unrelated.3. During my most recent attempt before writing this post, my weapons began to glitch and become untextured, an issue I had not seen once prior. I'm not running WRP or another weapon reskin mod, nor have I before this, so I again have no idea why this happened.
