Schinkenmonster
Hi!First of all, sorry if there is already another topic with the same issue. It's hard to find something specific when you type in "most mods don't work". Yeah, so... I never used any mods, once I tried to install a mod about making Ulfric your Companion, it didn't work and I was like "Well, I tried." Yesterday I came to the sudden realisation that Mods could be a ton of fun. I installed the Nexus Manager and startet to download some retexture mods like Skyrim HD or the 3D Map.None of those work. The only mod currently working is Open Cities. Also, both Skyrim HD and the 3D Map don't show up in the Plugins Section of Nexus or in the DataFiles-Section of the Launcher. Climates of Tamriel however shows up in both menues but doesn't work either. I'm going to try and download some Quest Mods and stuff to see if those work, but I'd really like to play Skyrim with fancier graphics .Also. I'm using WIndows 7 64 bit and I always played Skyrim on very high graphics. Edit: Downloaded "The Shadow of Meresis". It works. Help, anyone? prod80
Only mods that have plugins show in Data... so, mods with .esp and .esm files. Skyrim HD and Quality World Map dont have that. There is absolutely no way Skyrim HD doesnt work, unless you selected "Yes" when Nexus Mod Manager asks you if you wanna update... in NMM, does it show red crosses next to Skyrim HD? It shouldnt, it should show green checkmarks. When you install multiple mods with same name+version number NMM will asks you if you wanna update or not, answer No from Skyrim HD. That should work. Also, start using BOSS (from Nexus) to sort your order for you. It's not perfect but it should get you started.
Schinkenmonster
Thanks for the fast answer! :). Nope, there's a green checkmark. Also, it didn't ask me if I want to update it. When I install the mod it first says "Preparing Mod" - then "Installing Mod" (Both arond 5-10 secs with a loading bar) and then "Mod succsessfully activated".But still no change in the game. Also, other mods changing the textures don't work either (Even if I have only one of them activated, so they don't interfere with each other)When I install Climates of Tamriel, the menu pops up. But even when I select the darkest nights it doesn't change anything in the game.I may start to use Boss when I got more mods, but I would like to make them work firstly :)(Yeah, and sorry for bad englisch :))
prod80
Skyrim HD has 6 or so modules, you have them all downloaded & installed? Climates of Tamriel takes 24 hours in game before it's active... so wait 24 hours somewhere interior. Edit: And load order is important, from the start. Make yourself familiar with what mods do... Very simple basic example: when you have an armor replacer that replaces all vanilla armors and an armor replacer that only changes the dark brotherhood armor the dark brotherhood armor has to be loaded and/or installed after the full replacer, or it will not work (won't show in game, because it's overwritten). So it's best for your own good to start making yourself familiar with the concept of load order, the sooner the better. Troubleshooting load order issues later will be a lot of work when you don't know what your mods do. I suggest you start by reading the sticky on this forum called "Only you can prevent forest fires" ... there is a lot of basic knowledge in there.
