Texturing models

Last night i downloaded blender, nifskope, and few other files to work with models. i will admit now that i am no artist. i too the hunting rifle nif and imported it to blender and messed around with it adding a scope and silencer to it. i exported the file as a nif and looked at it in nifskope and it looked fine, however when i loaded it to geck all i saw was the ground.

where did i go wrong? I think i left something out but not sure what. can any of u guys out there help me.

ps: please note that i only started using blender and nifskope last night so my knowledge of them is limited to the multiple tutorials i watched, none of which explained how to take a blender file and prepare it for fallout 3.

hmm one thing just to check it when you open the model in the geck preview and dont see it

click and scroll around with the mouse a bit.. possibly it was positioned odd and its underneath the ground? (just a shot in the dark)

also check out this tutorial

http://geck.bethsoft.com/index.php/Creating_A_Custom_Weapon

it has steps for getting a blender file into fallout and totally saved me from going insane

hopefully that will help a bit

I've learnt that on occasions the geck can be un reliable when It comes to testing a model. The only test thats accurate 100% of the time is using it in game.

Another thing to check out would be the alpha settings on the models inside NifSkope, I had this happen to be when exporting from 3ds.

Edit: Also, in the GECK previewer press W which will display the model as a Wireframe to see if its really invisable. It sometimes shows up really transparent.
