DaughertyUSMC
I had to refresh my OS, thus reinstalling Windows 10. I was able to keep my files and most of my apps. However, after ensuring that everything was brought back including a fresh reinstall of Skyrim SE, and verifying that my game version and SKSE, mods, etc were correct; plugins all re-enabled, the game's console suddenly stopped allowing me to select anything, or type anything, once opened via the "~" key. This was after running the game with 2 new saves made. Afterward, the game would crash instantly when selecting a save to load. So I copy/pasted my game's save folder to desktop, deleted the original save folder, uninstalled the game, which is located on an external drive, and removed any Skyrim instances from the registry. I then re-installed the game via Steam, and again, activated my plugins. Then began a new game. After creating my character, I saw that the console, though it would open, still had no function! I tried to save, and the game, again, instantly CTD'd. I reloaded the game, discovered that despite the CTD, it had in fact, made a save. Selecting the save caused yet again - instant CTD. I next replaced my original saves back into the new game save folder, restarted the game and saw that none of the saves showed - still only the one made with the new game. And yeah - it CTD'd again when I selected that save. I am now at a total loss as to how to fix this. If anyone can offer some help, I would hugely appreciate it! blitzen
If you are using mods, some mods require additional software that you may have had installed previously, but isn't present with the new OS install. I remember seeing dependencies on things like Visuall C++, .net, etc. Maybe it's something like that. You'd have to check mod requirements, and framework/resource requirements for things like SKSE if you using that. That's about as much as I can say without knowing anything about your SSE. It's pure speculation. Edited June 3, 2021 by blitzen
DaughertyUSMC
Speculation perhaps - but an intelligent place to start .....Thanx!
DaughertyUSMC
Progress has been made - in-game console now works, again - it was a console related mod that worked fine for months in my game, but suddenly went tits-up, and borked the console functionality. Removing said mod fixed THAT particular issue. But I am STILL getting instant CTD's when trying to make a manual save, in a brand new game - this includes creating the FIRST MANUAL save in the new game - game DOES create it's own 1st autosave, just fine, but that will also CTD the game when trying to load IT. I have JUST downloaded SSE ... again ... but this time, I first deleted my entire main SSE folder, which effectively removed all mods/plugins/mod scripts, etc, then unistalled the game via Steam. So this should by all rights, have provided me with a fresh, brand new vanilla game to work with. And yet, I am getting these instant CTD's as described above. Try as I might, I cannot determine what - if anything - I may be missing from my game folder or PC itself, in terms of any additional software, etc. that is not already present within my operating system, that a game would require. I mean this is not the 1st time I have re-installed Windows, and had to thus, re-install my games and mods, so this is extremely vexing!!!!! Moksha8088
Reinstall the latest Nvidia or AMD drivers and retry the game.
blitzen
I couldn't play Enderal until I added an exclusion to Bitdefender antivirus software. Make sure that whatever antivirus software you are using is not interfering.
