Respectful Marcurio, Willing Burden Carrier?

There is a mod called Respectful Lydia - Willing Burden Carrier that replaces her sarcastic dialogue for the trade prompt with something more respectful.

 

I've been trying to figure out how to make the same kind of mod, but for Marcurio. At first I didn't mind him being all sarcastic, but then I had my character marry him, and he goes one second from "How are you, my love?" all sweet to "I am an apprentice wizard, not a pack mule!" the next. Geez. Hold a couple things for your wife, will you?

 

I tried changing things with the Creation Kit but I'm suuuuuuper new to it and... failed to make any change in the game.

 

SUPER Ideally I would like to have him still be sarcastic before marriage, but if the player marries him then he gets more demure about "being a pack mule." That's probably a lot more complicated than just changing the file, since it would have to involve the flag or whatever it is that indicates the player's spouse.

 

I can find tons of tutorials for making dialogue for a NEW follower but, although I assume it should be the same idea, so far I haven't gotten it to work :/

 

Help plz?

Ok now here's something bizarre.

 

I got it working. But.

 

In one save, he has the dialogue line in subtitles, but doesn't say it aloud.

 

In another, he both has the dialogue in subtitles AND says it.

 

 

I'm confused.
