AmoryBlaine1928
A total redesign of the outfits used by Legion NPCs. Less a request, more a pipedream I want to share with anyone who might want to take it up. The Legion's is funny. They're supposedly living off the land, and hate the old world, yet they use old football gear and lawnmower blades as a standard weapon, while Caesar himself wears a sports jersey. Rather than this reality, I envision them making their own clothing and weapons with the apparently sizable slave force they have supporting the army itself. Cotton tunics, crude plate armor, swords, and spears made of melted scrap metal. Furs, and hides used for acessories as well as boots and sandals. The Recruit Legionaries would wear nothing but a basic tunic in either the classic Legion red or a natural colour such as white, grey, or a light or dark brown. These would be made of cotton, as I understand there's a fair amount in Arizona. As well as this tunic would be hide shoes close to moccasins in design, though of course, lacking the more ornate bead designs. For accessories, they'd have simple rope or leather belts, a pouch or two. Weapons-wise they use spears and the basic vanilla lawnmower machete, since they're effectively fodder. The Prime Legionaries wears a tunic as well, though they all uniformly wear the iconic red. Over top of this is plate armor similar to that used by WW1 German stormtroopers. It's fairly simple in design, and seems plausible as a mass produced armor. They also may use brown or slightly darker red cloaks with hoods, proper Roman-esque sandals, along with the vanilla football helmets. Frankly, those- and the goggles-bandana look- are the best part of the vanilla look. Obviously, these should be diversified. Some wear the vanilla version, some have the goggles on the helmet, some don't have bandanas. They also use better spears and machetes, made of forged metal. The design of the machete ought to be similar to a basic US military machete, though with a wooden handle and more crude looking blade. Veteran Legionaries, while effectively being upgraded Prime Legionaries, would have a mixture of combat armor, NCR trooper armor, and other armors to signify their triumphs in battle. The same idea which was used for centurions, but lowered to line infantry. They'd also have the aforementioned weapons of the Primes, but mostly just carry firearms. The Decanus would effectively be the same as the Prime and Veteran Legionaries, but have the difference of the vanilla headdress, and perhaps a white or grey cloak or mantle. The Explorer wears something similar to the Recruit uniform- specifically the natural tunic colour and lack of armor. With this more lightweight look, they would also wear a cloak and hood to cover themselves while covering and provide fair protection from the sands. The Centurion stands apart from the troops under his command, in that his armor is properly fitted and well designed. It is closest to actual Roman armor. The Assassins which attack the player in hit squads would wear the same as Explorers with perhaps something close to a Japanese traditional mino rain-cover to act as camouflage. The Praetorian Guard wear purple tunics, and have similar armor to Centurions though in black, rather than steel. The Legate should remain similar to vanilla. Caesar as well, should look similar to vanilla, though without the literal sports jersey. His tunic shouldn't be frayed either. Generally, the army should look utilitarian and a bit crude, with little flair or use of Gold outside of a means to denote rank. Variety per outfit would be cool too. With some having the cloaks I mentioned, and most not. And the Veterans having different variations of armor bits. Again, this is less a direct request, and moreso just me putting out my idea for what they should look like.
Panzermann11
The loading screen states the centurions wear armor pieced together from their fallen enemies, so I think they should get a similar treatment as the veteran legionaires.
