Installing Mods on a Mac?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I want to install mods on my Mac version on DA:O. I have googled this topic, however most of the guides (of which there are alarmingly few) are either illegible, or seem to think Mac is Windows, or talk about files that I do not have in my Game files (I directly downloaded my game off GameTreeMac.com).

I downloaded DAModWrangler which I heard was for Mac, but it doesn't work when I try dragging and dropping the .dazip files. I have tried following a post that explained how to install them manually, however a file that is spoken about a lot the AddIns.xml, does not exist anywhere on my computer. This whole process is giving me a headache! Does anyone have a step by step easy to follow instruction set to follow for people who aren't completely tech savvy? Any help would be very much appreciated!

Thanks!

Hi

I've only just spotted this topic, so if anyone out there has any advice to lend I'd be happy to listen to it too as I have trouble sometimes too!

I am a total noob but I have a mac and I have a few mods on my DAO, I have tried on DA2 as well and one or two work.

Some files can be copied and pasted directly into the "override folder"

Open a "finder" window and go to:

Documents - Bioware - Dragon Age - Packages - Core - override.

I use a fantastic bit of kit called Modazipin, its a mac version of other popular DA Mod Managers.

The problem that I have found with modding on my mac however is that some simply don't work; I think it's mostly XML files as they don't work on Mac. I also find that at the very worst, some cause serious stability issues with the mac, I've just installed some new mods and it is crashing every 5 minutes at the moment so not ideal - have to spend some time figuring out which one(s) are causing it and deleting them! This is the one criticism I have of the Mac system; modding is not easy!!!!

If anyone out there is more skill at Mac modding than me (millions of you I am sure!) please do share!

D
