umut
Greetings, This message is ostensibly posted in the ideas that onr or/and more solutions for my relatively minor inconvenience with Skyrim could be found and, furthermore, be made to work, for my situation, as well as perhaps others. Firstly, the specs of my PC shall be given:Processor: i7-920 clocked at 3.2 GHZMOBO: MSI X-58 PROVideo card: 2x Gigabyte Windforce 6950RAM: 6GB DDR3HDD: WD Caviar Blue 500 GB Onto the apparent problem:Over the past few months, after either patch 1.6 - 1.8 (any of them may be a potential cause, but since this user had not been playing Skyrim during the time of those patches, but has still updated the game, regardless) the game began to cause the entire system to crash in various manners, which seemed to vary on occurence:- sometimes it would be a black/white screen, which could be bypassed by CTRL+ALT+DEL and ending the TESV process form Task Manager- other times the screen would freeze for a few seconds, prior to turning either black, white or/and display a message which stated that it did not receive any video signal- In any situation sound still kept playing, either contininuously, implying that the game was running, but without visual input, but during which times the player had seemingly no control over the character, nor menus etc, or sometimes in loop Things that the user has tried, in an attempt to solve the issue:- the switching of audio format (16/24 bit 44100 etc)- tried different resolutions- played both vanilla and modded versions of the game- reinstallation and start with clean, new save- after reinstall, trying this with both the vanilla game and modded- disabling crossfire (which worked once, but failed to do so on the next play, as well as any other, thereafter)- various Skyrim, SkyrimPrefs. ini tweaks- cleaning mods with TES5EDIT (Also, another things to mention, after reinstalling the game, Wrye Bash gives a runtime error when building a new bash batch, before shutting down)- getting lite or lower res textures of custom packs, like Skyrim HD- disabled ULPS It seems unlikely that the issues are caused by mods or scripts, since this user doesn't seem to have used any script intensive mods; also the same issues occur exactly the same, with or/and without any plugins active, including ENB (not necessarily a plugin - as in esp or esm -, in terms of it's employment method,, but still a modification).. Furthermore, the same issue occurred before the reinstall, when SKyrim had over 250 mods, as as after, when there are only 106 installed, all up to date, compatible with each other, etcetera. Another potential culprit might be the heating, though, again this seems unlikely, since the game doesn't heat my top card above 75-80 degrees. However, it would be mentioned that before these problems started, the card would still stay in the mid 70's after several hours of play, Now, the top card heats up to the previously mentioned temperature in merely the 1-2 minutes of actual gametime, before crashing. In typical situations, it could be said that there's something with one or/and both of my card. However, that seems to be unlikely, seeing as how more demanding games, such as GRID 2, Witcher, 2, EE, Metro 2033 and Last Light, Crysis 3 barely hit that those temps, and that is after a few hours of play, with the potential exception of the latter, which hits ~85 after a few hours. In any case, this is still within the "green zone" of temperature, so it's unlikely that it's an overheating issue. Regards.

stuff444
You did not mention drivers in you "things you have tried". To me this sounds like a driver issue. I have had a few white screen crashes, and they were driver related. I have no idea why they occurred though.

Have you swapped the position of the vid cards ? The newer video cards are using tin alloy solder rather than lead...different alloys melt at different temps... if the wrong alloy was used... after time the little connections open.. this can happen in any "bumping" process..tin is also much more brittle.... When the ROHS cert. electronics started there was a learning curve with the process...
