Adipose
Normal is challenging up to about ten or so, then, once you've improved your armor and added a few basic combat perks, it's not much of a challenge. Anyway, I decided to play at very hard. Predictably, based on other game behaviors such as Skyrim, hostiles became very difficult to kill. Frex, got a combat shotgun with a damage rating of 120. Holding it right up to a hostiles forehead, and the first round just pisses'em off, particularly if they're a Mutant. That's not reasonable. Otoh, the hostiles become much more agile and better at dodging fire, rushing you and ganging up, particularly if they're Mutants. That's reasonable. What's not reasonable is the way in which they pop up behind you when there's no way that can happen, particularly if I'm up on scaffolding and I've already checked behind and there's no one there. It is more reasonable at very hard that combat is more challenging and actually requires some thinking about tactics and doing a lot of running away. I suppose that the main characteristic that bothers me is that a head shot often requires three or four solid hits in order to put'em down. That's not reasonable. A hit in the head from a .308 would put'em down in one go, unless they had a skull like a Cape Buffalo.
romalight
Hello. There are some mods change the combat, while the enemies follow you to a interior or don't stop follow you, even if your character go very far and that is what we call, real situation. The very hard mod with that kind or using another mod change the combat AI, change the game to something really good because the enemies start to have a brain. Playing so many years Fallout 4, while using mods, also i don't understand why a veteran or legendary raider is so strong - do they have their own perks ? i don't know. That's all and have a great summer.
AaronS
Yeah, sometimes the NPCs are insane. I swear sometimes they cheat. Some times when I play on very hard I spawn in all my armor with mods, level myself up and get the weapons with mods before I leave the starting area I have chosen for my self(alternate start mod). It usually is fun, I don't have to hunt for upgrades or what not. At the moment I am playing on survival mode, with gas masks of the wasteland and nuclear winter installed. fraquar
There are mods for that.I believe Better Locational Damage helps you deal with the headshot issue - provided you are using the proper caliber for the job. Ex. a .45 ACP at a Yao Guai will do nothing but piss him off...... You better bring the big boy ammunition for that shot.Beyond that, well Very Hard is supposed to be Very Hard...... TBH, shotgun shouldn't do a whole lot of damage to mutated enemies. Raiders, Gunners, sure - but Super Mutants? They will just laugh and say "you hit like a Radroach....." AaronS
I've tried that I think. I can't remember. The mods I listed on survival they add more things you need to be aware of, gasmask of the wasteland you can make it so you have to wear a gasmask all the time. But yeah nothing like thinking I can take him and then you vats him to see and then slink away before they notice.
