FastestDogInTheDistrict
I'm hoping you can help me, people! I am having a great difficulty getting the Clothing Bodytype Converter v.4.2.b scripts for Blender to work (*cannot link, sorry - Google is needed). I have installed: - Blender 2.49b - Python 2.6.5 - PyFFI 2.1.5.win32 - NifSkope-1.0.22-windows - Blender_nif_scripts-2.5.5-windows Blender won't import .NIF's for me. As far as I can tell, I have everything installed correctly, but Blender's answer is still No. When I try, I get Python errors: Blender NIF Scripts 2.5.5 (running on Blender 249, PyFFI 2.1.5)Traceback (most recent call last): File "C:\Program Files (x86)\Blender Foundation\Blender\.blender\scripts\bpymodules\nif_common.py", line 1227, in gui_button_event self.gui_exit() File "C:\Program Files (x86)\Blender Foundation\Blender\.blender\scripts\bpymodules\nif_common.py", line 1579, in gui_exit self.callback(**self.config) File "C:\Program Files (x86)\Blender Foundation\Blender\.blender\scripts\import\import_nif.py", line 3750, in config_callback importer = NifImport(**config) File "C:\Program Files (x86)\Blender Foundation\Blender\.blender\scripts\import\import_nif.py", line 170, in __init__ data.inspect(niffile) File "C:\Python26\lib\site-packages\pyffi\formats\nif\__init__.py", line 1258, in inspect self.header.read(stream, data=self) File "C:\Python26\lib\site-packages\pyffi\object_models\xml\struct_.py", line354, in read attr_value.read(stream, data) File "C:\Python26\lib\site-packages\pyffi\object_models\xml\array.py", line 300, in read elem.read(stream, data) File "C:\Python26\lib\site-packages\pyffi\object_models\common.py", line 691,in read % (length, stream.tell()))ValueError: string too long (0x640C0000 at 0x0000003A) *Note that I have also tried removing the BSLightingShaderProperty everywhere I can see it on the .NIF (Vanilla body, in this case), and Blender still won't import. I get the same error.
Nephenee13
Wait, you can't import NIFs at all?Thats certainly not right. Uninstall and reinstall Blender and the NIF Scripts
FastestDogInTheDistrict
I tried that prior to posting here - I'm definitely doing something wrong at some point, but I can't work out what. EDIT: Updated further with PyFFI 2.1.11 and blender_nif_scripts 2.5.9.77, still no luck, same error message. EDIT: Tried another full reinstall, this time following this tutorial, same result.
razorpony
Try getting the bundle that LHammonds linked here: http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/12248 It has all the versions of the various files that are known to work together. He lists PyFFI as version 1.1.5 and I noticed you have 2.1.5 so that may be an issue. RP
FastestDogInTheDistrict
Okay - installed the LHammonds bundle, but I'm still getting the same error and cannot import.
Nephenee13
What nif have you tried to import?
FastestDogInTheDistrict
The Vanilla body, UNPB, and a random bandit armour mesh just to check that it wasn't something specific to body meshes.
razorpony
If this is for SKyrim, Blender nifscripts have not been updated to work with the new .nif format. Grab this import tutorial and read the info. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/3790//? There's pictures also. It can be a pain at first but it gets easier the more you do it. Let us know if you still have problems. RP
FastestDogInTheDistrict
YAY! ;D Razorpony and Nephenee - you guys ROCK! Kudos cookies given, and many, many thanks indeed for your help! My Blender now imports NifSkope-prepared .NIFs, and I can remove skeletons & get ready to convert armours using gerra's lattice scripts (I hope! )! Thank-you both so much for your help and patience!!
