Synthesis Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 Pretty straight forward: I set about adding FX (steam and churning water) to a few spots in Skyrim, saving them in an ESP...and nothing I change or add seems to appear in game, even with the ESP loaded. It seems like the game simply refuses to acknowledge the changes. Am I missing a step before saving the ESP file in Creation Kit? Do I need to force the cell or area to reload in game? Any help would be much appreciated.
NemesisTheWarlock Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 You'll need to reload the cell in game for it to pick up the changes otherwise it will continue to use the previous version it had already loaded. Your best bet, if you can, is go to a save before the edited area was first loaded and then go there.
Synthesis Posted June 10, 2013 Author Posted June 10, 2013 (edited) Thanks--the cell is part of the world environment, is there a way to force the game to recreate the environment? I was already saving inside a cell inside a city. EDIT: I used the clean save method--at least, the one that's always worked in the past--disabled the mod that created the outside region, went into the outside world, made sure the area wasn't there, then enabled the mod--it still refuses to acknowledge any changes. Even though I can open up the Construction Kit and find those changes in it easily. Is there any way to force the game to manually recreate the area? Edited June 10, 2013 by Synthesis

Ah, okay, I think I misunderstood you...I think I encountered that area about 100 hours ago or so, so that's not a solution. It's strange that disabling the mod, going to the same area, and reenabling it doesn't work, frankly.
NemesisTheWarlock Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 Yes, it is odd, but that just seems to be one of the hurdles we have to try to overcome, it can be incredibly frustrating. The best thing I can suggest is to try making some small changes to a cell you haven't been to yet and see if they take effect or try starting a new game and then "coc" to your edited cell.
