Deleted269910User Posted February 10, 2009 Share Posted February 10, 2009 Every time I try to update my avatar with a different pic, it remains the same, but the resolution of my old avatar keeps changing. The files I've tried to replace them with are jpg's and smaller than 30 kilobytes. What's going on? o_O Empty your own temp. internet files. It saves the pictures and pre-loads them, instead of loading the new one properly, I noticed it myself sometime ago when changing my own sig/avvy set. The reason for that I believe is that when you upload a new one, the server automatically saves it at the same name as the previous one while overwriting the data, thus the browser doesn't recognize it as a new picture, but can result in the resolution variances.(Doesn't happen with signature pictures for the reason that they're not generally handled that way, the url for them is different each and every time, so if the sig is updated, you will always notice the change.[Assuming that the old shot isn't removed and a new one saved over it with the same name but a different picture, this also requires a temp. internet file dump to be visible.]) Should clear that up. ;) So basically, you emptied your temp. internet files at some point, and the browser reloaded the avatar picture, thus it updated.
