Copywrite85
Hi guys. First let me set the scenario I guess... Ive been playing skyrim heavily modded for months. I had about 200+ mods (including enb) for awhile and I could play with decent frame rates (occasional hiccups). It would only crash every now and then or get a slow down etc. It was more or less very playable but not perfect. Ive since discovered the S.T.E.P website and went over the instructions; i figured I could have the game running just the way I wanted it if I followed the guide (of course adding a few mods I had working previously). Said to myself my graphics gtx 680 sc 2gb was a mistake, repurchased the 4gb vram model because the game usually almost maxed that. Heres everything I did that I thought would give me my dream skyrim.-Brand new clean reinstall of skyrim (got rid of old inis and am purely using S.T.E.P suggested ones)-Followed S.T.E.P mod instructions word for word-Then added my personal mods from old build (only after thoroughly researching for conflicts/instructions/crash reports etc)-Used wyre bash to perfect load order (Boss didn;t recognize a few and placed proc patches incorrectly etc. MY current build has the unrecognized ones higher, Merged patch, then bashed patch, then asis batch, then dual sheath redux patch, it is worth noting i included the merged patch in my bash rebuild but included skyprocs in neither merged or bash)-Used tes5 to clean every mod I figured with this fresh install and my extremely careful approach ( I tested with a dummy character opening doors and running around with every batch of mod installs); that the game would be running like a dream. Low and behold when everything is done its the worst its every been. It freezes and ctds all the time, I cant even get out of the opening Helgen scene...its absolutely nuts. I discovered that skyrim performance monitor stopped working for whatever reason, it was making my enb crash on shift+enter etc. There was a bug where I would get stuck in the ground on loading saves (which i fixed with another clean reinstall). But the crashes and freezes are still here. It almost always happens when I try follow either raloff or the imperial guy into the door to helgen keep; it either hangs or ctds. If not then shortly after. I am absolutely stumped. Sure I followed the High performance step model...but I have a 680 gtx with 4gb of vram...if anyone can please help me I don't know what to do anymore. prod80
Hey man... still not there hmm?Since you've done so much testing and all... can you try and skip the whole helgen scene to check if it's not some mod simply freaking out in helgen but otherwise a stable game?Just after character creation and dragon landing and such, when you can finally run around like an disabled chicken not able to get your hands free for whatever lame reason type in console "coc riverwood" and then type in console "showracemenu" there press R to finish your character/name and you should become unbound. If that's stable gotta check which mod doesn't like Helgen...

Even thought I have allot of vram Ive read ctds and freezes happen when your system ram goes over 3000? If anyone can confirm this that'd be great. Ps. Its your version of project enb with cot and rlo im still using, urs is on par with skyrealism minus that annoying screen bug
nurmi90
Disable Hi-Res texture packs Run either Optimizer Textures or whatever they use in STEP, which I would recommend doing anyways because half of the textures are missing mipmaps including some of the official files and other weird stuff like 6k res bunnies? I personally got still around 2,3-2,9gb memory usage according to performance monitor and the cap is 3,1gb and i'm not even using any texture pack apart from aMidianborn's stuff. Then its up to your .ini settings, got mine working after month with 129 plugins so bestest luck and don't hit your pc.

Also i forgot to say this but I have already run tes5 to check for conflicts and I have read Boss allot. According to those two programs everything is 100% =/ So confused. prod80
Just get Skyrim HD Lite, Anyone with 1GB VRAM can run that and other mods. It's 4x lighter than the full and still 16x higher resolution than Vanilla textures. You wont notice a difference compared to Full unless you stand with your nose on the textures, which you will hardly ever do, because why? Yes, Skyrim will crash when you go over 3.2GB system RAM because it's a 32 bit application. That's just a very hard limit, but I doubt you reach that... Glad you enjoy the ENB  So confused. Just try and get out of Helgen to see for stability... you wont be the first person to crash only in Helgen, as it's a complete separate area and very heavily scripted. If you notice the game is stable outside helgen then what you should do, when you absolutely wanna use your current mods, load only the mods which HAVE to be active from game start (Unofficial patches, Perk overhauls, etc) and run through Helgen like that (those should work because when they need to be active fro start the author should make them work in helgen, right). Then when outside make a save with console: save "no mods save", quit, enable everything else, open your save game, create a new save using console: save "fresh start" and use this save game each time when you wanna start a new char. Given you don't do drastic changes to mods anymore (you have a no mods save too...). This saves you from the Helgen pain and the long intro sequence. The project enb author should host your iterations on his page imo.

He wont because I changed so many things about it, that it's not really project ENB anymore.... and he doesn't give me permission to use his enbeffect.fx file which I made changes to... (and I really need a few changes he made to it) so its pretty much dead in the water, tho I do share it when people ask.... I spend so much time with it, that I currently cannot find the energy to start over... anyway, I edited my above post  Anyway, I gotta go sleep... I can check some tomorrow, but you have a lot of mods man :O
