senterpat
So I've spent a lot of time on these forums in the few months, and am a bit annoyed at how often I have to give the same list of instructions to people. So, I've decided to post this so I can just link to it instead of typing it out each time. Mod crashing on game launch: this is generally caused by one of your mods requiring a master mod that you don't have. The easiest fix for this is to load up fnvedit, while loading it will report any errors that cause a CTD on game launch. If you have an aversion to FNVEdit, deselect mods 5-10 at a time until it launches, then use your mod manager to look at the masters for each. Find the one that's causing the CTD, and either get the master for it, or deactivate it. Hanging at main menu/main menu never appears: this is most likely a patch. Or a broken mod. This is caused by a mod trying to reference data that's no longer there. (such as a patch that's trying to edit something the main mod no longer has) deactivate your mods 5-10 at a time until it works, then reactivate them one at a time until the problem occurs again and you have your culprit. Game freezing on load screen: try again, this happens randomly, if problem persists your save game may be too bloated, try using New Vegas Save Cleaner. Some people have reported loading an earlier save, then the save that's freezing has worked. Crash to desktop while playing: CTD's are generally the hardest to fix, and the most annoying, as they can be caused by many number of things. I'm short on time so I'll just list some possible easy resolutions and edit in more later.
