TheAmazingSheek
Apologies in advance if this is the wrong section, I figured this was a more general question than would be in the specific game forums. Having read the terms of service, I have a question about submitted content. I've been thinking about releasing a mod that uses sound files from another game, and haven't been able to get explicit permission from the copyright holder of the game to use said files. Being voice files, they would be safely tucked away in a .fuz, so without willing attempts to convert them, the files would not be usable outside of the game. Would it be fine to simply submit the mod with a copyright statement in the credits? I'm asking due to the overwhelming amount of mods that have armours and whatnot ripped from other games, more than anything else. Thank you to any and all that answer. TheVampireDante
No, it's still unauthorized use of copyrighted material. Armour ripped from other games is not allowed either (copyright violations, therefore- illegal), unless the originating company has allowed "free use" of their creations (such as the developers of the Witcher and STALKER games have). TheAmazingSheek
Fair enough. Glad I asked first. Go ahead and lock / delete / whatever is necessary for this thread. Thanks for the quick reply.
