Help using face tri morph on helmet

To any skilled modders, I need some help with .tri face morphs on equipment.

 

I've been looking into how to make a piece of head equipment morph when a character speaks; beard clipping through a mask when speaking is annoying. Read up and generating .tri files for the equipment according to the head deforms is not an issue. Im stumped trying to get the game to use the .tri morphs on something that isnt a head part.

 

In the Creation Kit it looks like I can't add an extra part .tri file to the ArmorAddon that defines the .nif model for the equipment. That option only appears for head parts like beards, hair, etc. Am I looking in the wrong place? Is this an engine or CK limitation? If so are there any potential work arounds?

The animation used by the game for the head parts are based on the head mesh's bones, without those bones there can't be any animations, so to animate a helmet you need to add to it those bones and insert to the game / CK the mesh as a new head part.


* I think that bones needs to be based on 1 or all of the games races and not a custom face bones.


I've never tried it, but i don't think that it's possible to 'morph animate' an armor piece (as armor), only as "Head Part".

Thanks for the input. Im aware of the bone structures and should have all the right head ones. I was afraid that this file would have to be added as a head part though. My goal was for it to be equippable as equipment, not stuck to a characters face through showracemenu like a beard.
