Have I broken my game?

So I have been trying to troubleshoot a repeatable crash near Ironback Hideout while doing one of the quests in the Mirai girl with the Dragon Heart mod. I have looked at the crash log quite a bit but can't decipher it.

Out of curiosity, I tried going to that area on a new game, which worked. No crashes in that area. So this led me to try to go back on a previous save of my main playthrough before I started the specific quest that requires me to go there. However, this time the crash returned. I'm worried this crash may be a result of my poor modding habits (a fair amount of installs and uninstalls mid-playthrough). However, I would like an expert opinion on if this is the problem or if there is something else that can be done to save my playthrough. I have used a save cleaner after every mod removal if that changes things

It sounds like you've installed mods since the earlier save.

 

Generally, when I encounter these kinds of issues, I uninstall mods in reverse order of installation until the problem goes away when opening the earlier save (in between uninstalls).

 

(you could also choose to disable instead of uninstalling, but I think sometimes disable isn't enough so I prefer uninstall to be thorough, even if it means redownload)

 

At that point, (suppose for instance, you had to go back 7 mods) I can then slowly re-install each of the previously uninstalled mods, checking between each install for recurrence of the error. Once encountered, uninstall the last mod installed (since it's the one which offends), and then continue installing the remainder of the uninstalled mods, again checking in-between each install to ensure there are no other problematic mods involved.

 

At that point, now that I know which mods are problems, I can hunt for solutions (perhaps a missing patch for another mod, or for the mod itself, perhaps use an alternative mod that doesn't conflict/crash/cause freeze/glitch/etc.

 

But the game works now, so I can back burner that fix search if I want to.
