Writing "D" in a file comment results in an emoticon

I noticed something weird, I tried to help a guy in a comment secton on my mod and it includes a simple explanation of how a load order should look. But my comment ended up looking strange. This is what should be shown:

Fallout3.esm

<DLCs>

<ESMs>

<ESPs>

<Merged Patch>

But this is what I get instead:

What the...? I want the D! :P

I honestly don't understand why this happens, it boggles me. When I edit it (just click edit and submit) it looks normal until I refresh the page, them it goes back to looking like the above.

I use IceWeasel 23.0a2 Aurora which is a re-branded Firefox with security additions for Debian GNU/Linux operating system. The same thing happens in Chromium and Opera so I don't think it's a browser problem. Cleared out cache/cookies on all three and I get no difference.

Not that this bothers me much, it's just that how am I supposed to be serious about load order management if I have a laughing emoticon in the middle of a rather serious part of my post?

If you insert a blank right in front of it, the emoticon will vanish.

Granted, there will be a blank in < DLCs>, but I guess it's the lesser trouble after all.

Don't ask me 'why' any random character in front of the D makes it turn into an emoticon to begin with.

edit: Scrap that. It's far from 'random'. In fact it's actually a couple hundred different characters causing a couple hundred different emoticons together with the D... oh well.

I can live with a space in front of a "D".

And I don't mind that it turns into an emoticon, what bothers me is that my "D" turns into an emoticon and then it has the audacity to laugh right to my face. :dry:
