hi there i was wanting to know if anyone was needing a voice actor for one of their npc or copanions for one of their mods. I was wanting to volunteer my time doing it, because i love fallout 3 and think it would so cool that my voice would be character in the fallout universe.

also anyother voice actors are welcome to come to this thread as well to help out the modding community.

What kind of recording equipment do you have? A generic microphone just won't do

how are the voice work usually recorded with? I have been needing to get good mic equipment for when i do video work for my teacher. what audio equipment would you suggest?

A high end mic is really a must. I don't have a specific brand or model in mind, but in general a quality mic will run you at least $100 (US).

If you want to see some true "High End" equipment, check out this link:

Of course, you don't need to go that high.

All the in-game recordings are done in a recording studio with state of the art equipment. I have done a bit of recoding with my basic rig at home and I can tell you there is a definite difference. My recordings are tinny, flat or choppy compared to the full rich sound of the in-game recordings. A good mic will at least squelch background noises like the hum of your computer or miscellaneous actor noises like swallowing or lip smacking or breathing - all of which make for a poor sound recording.

What you are looking for in a mic is the largest db (decibel) range for the money you can spend. Then you need to download and get familiar with a recording utility such as Audacity or Wavosaur.

uhm, I actually have an access to a high-end microphone and recording equipment. Not only that, I have had compliments about me sounding quite professional and "announcer" like. And i also love fallout 3...

I believe I checked all the boxes. would any of you have any use for me as well?

Well, I have been trolling this thread because, at some point, I'd like to voice my mod, Underground City. I am currently playing through it painstakingly slowly, to weed out as many discrepancies, bugs and various whatnot as well as adding this or that as needed. The truth is, I have been sitting on this mod for a few years. It is very long and maybe 95% finished - all but the "final battle" ending. Last time I counted, there were 19 characters and well over 600 individual lines of speech that need recording and lip files.

So to answer your question, yeah, I might...
