Multiple Sneak Attacks

Ok, so when playing, I have noticed that I can get off multiple sneak attacks, of both kinds. If I position myself properly, the initial backstab will effectively "push" the NPC character forward, and they will not immediately detect me. This allows me to chain backstabs, making most content fairly trivial (reflect damage is a big killer though).

I can also chain 3x Crits with a Bow. All I need, is to be slightly uphill from the NPC, and the NPC will detect me after the first hit, then move forward a foot or two, then go back to what it was doing.

Is this a result of a high sneak (100+), or just strange NPC AI?

NPC AI I'm guessing, which is in a lot of cases just plain dumb in Oblivion. I can't really say though since I got a more powerful crit mod like ages ago. I even forgot the name. It was one of the first Oblivion crit mods around that made sneak attacks a lot more deadly, like 8x damage with melee and 6x with ranged. It also increased the speed of your arrows when you fire them. Then when I first started running deadly reflex I didn't even bother with backstabs and just slit throats most of the time. Grant you, since the throat slit is pretty much a guaranteed one hit kill, on top of the higher crit damage mod I have, I never use invisibility spells. Instead I just rely on sneaking, that's all. Which is quite difficult at times, especially in certain DB missions, like the one where you have to break into the Imperial Prison to kill the High Elf taunting you when you start the game and all, and remain totally undetected. etc... Plus if I go for a throat slit some NPC's will catch me before I can do it and shield bash me in the face. >,< ouch... Actually come to think of it I never liked invisibility spells to begin with. It takes the exhilaration out of stealth kills.

To answer your question as best as I can, the ease of your sneak attacks are a result of your high sneak skill. I'm just curious, but are you playing someone else's save or did you use the console to get where you are at? If so, I'm not criticizing, but I think you would have noticed sneak attacks getting easier with skill progression. When I first started, I was reluctant to use sneak attacks, except in relatively safe conditions, because at a low level it seemed to alert the whole room after the initial sneaky hit, and then.... trouble! I still don't have 100 sneak yet (96, I think) so maybe you missed some of the fun of fighting a whole roomful of hedge wizards (or trying to fight the cowardly bast**ds as they run, with incredible speed, into the next room of bad guys, alerting them as well).

That Mod your talking about is Deadly Reflex 5.0

Nope, I downloaded it long before Deadly Reflex ever existed, as it came out like a month after Oblivion was released. Not to mention I'm pretty sure I can tell the difference between DR5, and... *sorts through her esps* There found it, erics_quad_damage_fast_for_archers.esp. There was an optional esp for melee critical's too but I think I deleted it after downloading DR4 when it first came out in favor of throat slitting. I have since lost the rar, zip, whatever file it came in, as I downloaded it so long ago. However, no I was not referencing Deadly Reflex, well I was as I clearly stated I was, but I was also referencing this mod that I've had for an eternity.
