HankMoler
Hi, so here is my problem, I reinstalled Dragon Age Ultimate edition yesterday, downloaded a bunch of mods and HD textures, installed the mods using the Mod Manager and placed the textures ( unzipped ) in the override folder (Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age\packages\core\override). Then I proceeded to create a new character, a human noble, afterwards I spent some time in the castle and noticed that the textures were all blurry and low definition, so I decided to move the modded textures to another folder, and when I started the game again I realized the textures remained to be of poor quality, but not worse than before which meant that the game is somehow not using the modded textures. I tried renaming the folders, moving the files to sub folders, moving them to the installation folder, disabling Anti Alias and so on. Nothing worked. So if anyone has any clue of what might be happening to my game or could help me fix the problem I would be truly thankful to you. Thandal
Exactly which texture mods are you talking about?
HankMoler
JB3, 4Aces and a darkspawn retexture mod. I mixed the textures into one folder so there are no two files overriding the same core file.In case you need my specs here they are: -Nvidia GTX 660-8 GB 1666 Mhz RAM-Intel Core i7 2600-Gigabyte Z77 Motherboard-Mushkin 800w PSU Edited June 19, 2013 by HankMoler
Thandal
The "4Aces HiRes Pack" does NOT go in the same "\override" folder as most other mods, including "JB3". (You know there are two different "\override" folders, right?) It has to go under the actual main game's "\Program Files (x86)\Dragon Age\..." path. (Look for it, an "\override" folder will be there.) You are correct to delete any unneeded files so as to have only one file with each name between the various mods. But if you miss any, it won't keep the game from running. Here's the order in which DAO looks for/uses files: 1. Vanilla (original) game files under "\Program Files (x86)\Dragon Age\..." (or wherever you installed it.) 2. Later addtions to the original game files under "\Program Files (x86)\Dragon Age\...\override\..."3. User additions under "\<user's documents>\BioWare\Dragon Age\packages\core\override" Game checks 1. and notes file, then 2. and replaces file found in 1. with that found in 2. (if any), then checks 3. and replaces file found in 1. or 2. (if any). (Things get more complicated for the files that are part of, or act like they are part of, the DLC. Then, the "\addins" folder and the "manifest.xml" files come into play. But that's not the case here.) A few, very specialized mods (like 4Aces and the original, multi-part JB3) will ONLY work if they are placed in the game's installation directory, not the user's. Hope that helps!
HankMoler
Yep that fixed it, the change in game sure was overwhelming  Thanks a lot for your help man you saved my game, and I know I am really getting off the track here, but perhaps you could tell me which ENB for Dragon Age can make use of the film grain effect, I tried many ENB configurations and film grain effects but none seem to work, and I now that this is possible because I used to have the effect when I first installed the game back in 2012 (but I forgot which ENB I used and which film grain effect). In any case I appreciate your help and patience.
Thandal
Yep that fixed it, the change in game sure was overwhelming  Glad you got it sorted. ... perhaps you could tell me which ENB for Dragon Age can make use of the film grain effect, No idea. Don't use ENB mods at all (I don't like what they do to the look of any game.)
