shadowspectre315
I need to know why my skyrim is so laggy, ive done about all the file changes out there, i have texture reducing mods, i bought 2 gigabytes of extra ram, im playing on the lowest settings, and ive tweaked windows. No improvement. im running it on an emachines laptop i know its crappy but i dont have a very high budget. my specs are... processer: Intel Celeron CPU 900 2.20GHz 2.19GHzRAM: 3.00 GBsystem type: 64-bit operating system Another thing i should probably mention, although im not sure if it makes a difference, when in the ESC menu i get no lag at all, my FPS goes up to 160 max in menu, but when i exit, it drops to 3-7 immediately. i need help im not going to be able to buy a gaming computer anytime soon so... help please... -shadowspectre
FiftyTifty
Laptop? Emachines? Nothing is going wrong. You're using the integrated intel graphics. And any intel graphics pre-Nehalem are not even to be considered for viewing videos above 720p (varies slightly), let alone playing a game designed around an Ati x1900XT. You might just, JUST be able to get @ 20 fps if you tweak heavily. I've answered a similar question about Skyrim on an IGPU. I'll copy-paste because every bit of it is only helpful for your situation. copy/paste: If you set the ugridstoload setting in the ini files to 3 (default is 5), you'll get a nice bump. If you disable the shadows inside the .ini files (You can download lighting mods that will compensate for the lack of shadows), a huge increase in your FPS will be assured. You may also want to reduce the size of your texture files. You'll need to unpack your "Skyrim - Textures.bsa" file, then run them through "Optimizer Textures". 'Tis a program you can download on the nexus. A defrag couldn't hurt. You may also see a performance boost if you make a ram disk of around 1-2GB, placing a .bsa file on there, make a "symlink" to the ram disk's .bsa file in the Data folder. You'll want to make sure you have a copy of the .bsa, due to Ram-disks emptying their contents whenever you restart/shut-down/hibernate/etc. your computer. You may also want to disable grass. You can do this in the .ini files I believe. Something like bshadergrass. If you can't find the setting, going into the console and typing "tg" will disable grass (type it again to re-enable it). Turning of NPC facial emotions may also help. The console command is "temo". If you download the fog mod (there is one kicking around on the Nexus), you could disable the landscape LOD for a performance boost by typing in the console "tlod". <==Not sure about that command. Could be different. If you type in the console "help LOD 1", it'll come up with a list of commands to do with the LOD. Look for something that will allow you to toggle the LOD. b2kcommander
u can try theese ini settings, except the grafical issues ... like shadow qualitiy or texture quality... all other settings especially the lod and distance settings are essential for a CTD free and freeze free gameplay. nevertheless there are some stutters left (5% of the outside locations) but in general its increasing fps by nearly no visual decrease. i use this inis with hd textures 2048K and mods like distance overhaul, high quality lods, distant detail, and decal fix ... and many ohther like flora overhaul+ lush overhaul trees .... it gives me a general 40-60 fps and nearly always 30+ in extreme situations with many grass .... in a forrest with enemys. i had several CTDs while playing and freezes... loading screens of death. but all improved very much. texture optimizer is essential too  i have a 2gb 7870 xt and by resizing textures to 2048x2048 it hits exactly the limit of my Vram. some times 300 to 400 mb are carried into the main sytem RAM but thats rare. my cpu is a fx6300 @4,8 ghz and i play mith an fxaa injector that doesnt kill my fps and gives a better visual quality as the ingame fxaa. radeon pro with ambient occulion.... and all at 1920@1200. i can recommend this inis nevertheless to any ctd and lag plagued player with a similar hardware rig. change the language if u like  skyrim ini:sLanguage=GERMANsIntroSequence=DISABLED.BIKuExterior Cell Buffer=36iPreloadSizeLimit=34406400[Display]fShadowLODMaxStartFade=1000.0fSpecularLODMaxStartFade=2000.0fLightLODMaxStartFade=6500.0iShadowMapResolutionPrimary=4096bAllowScreenshot=1fSunShadowUpdateTime=0.0fSunUpdateThreshold=0.3fNearDistance=20.0000[Audio]fMusicDuckingSeconds=6.0fMusicUnDuckingSeconds=8.0fMenuModeFadeOutTime=3.0fMenuModeFadeInTime=1.0[Actor]f1PArrowTiltUpAngle=0.0f3PArrowTiltUpAngle=0.0fVisibleNavmeshMoveDist=12288.0000[Grass]bAllowCreateGrass=1bAllowLoadGrass=0iMaxGrassTypesPerTexure=6[GeneralWarnings]SGeneralMasterMismatchWarning=One or more plugins could not find the correct versions of the master files they depend on. FiftyTifty
-snip- Uh. He's using an integrated intel IGPU. It's not even close to an intel HD 2000, nevermind an AMD 5450. You should read, AT THE VERY LEAST, the original post.

FiftyTifty
thats true but he can configure my inis to his needs (grafic based things) the rest ist improving is gaming experience too  Maybe you didn't read his post. "it drops to 3-7" Your settings are worse for him to tweak than the settings he has generated through the launcher. And by worse, I mean MUCH worse. Your graphics card is around 12x better than the 5450. The 5450 is 2.5x better than the HD 2000. The HD 2000 is around 1.5x faster than the OP's IGPU. It would be best if you didn't attempt to "help" people in the realm of hardware and software. You clearly don't know what your talking about. b2kcommander
these settings are worse for him .. therefore he should tweak them to his needs whats the problem ? if he just coopied the distance lod part unter terrain manager ? the rest is not that cpu demanding... grafic based paramenters are to be tweaked. i am repeating... You didn't even read my previous post. WHY should he tweak settings that are designed around a card that is more than 45x faster than his current IGPU, when he could tweak settings around a card that is a 10th as fast as your card? I mean...Come on. Think.
