Antioche
O.K. I found TESnexs through Fallout3... I found Fallout 3 through a friend who had it on xbox... After DLing all the 'neat' mods out for Fallout, I found oblivion through my daughter... Now...NO disrespect to Vanguard, an SoE game that had me waiting 5 fraking years, giving up a place in Planar Campaign after fighting through the elemental planes etc etc... THIS is the game VG was supposed to be... I DL'd the 4096x4096 HG textures for the female eyecandy...OmG... JUSt the facial customization leaves newer games in the DUST!! There was a girl who had posted a pic of her Oblivion character when VG first came out...She was ranting about the low quality of mmo's and their customization...I thought it was a screenie of some animae....I didn't realize it was IN-game Bethesda!!! I'm just in awe here... Modder's heaven, I havn't even played Oblivion yet and I've had it for days as I am continuously on the site DLing new mods and neat-arse tweaks people have made here and there....I understand why VG isn't oblivion, the texture maps i have running for the females alone are over TEN gigabytes in size....to imagine that over the bandwidth an mmo has to support...omg.. (chica flashes her nude breasts during a raid and brings everyone's framerate to a STAAANDSTILL...unkewl.... ) But OmG....is this game lovely, and a FINE replacement for Ultima III ( a game I have been looking to 'best' since the eighties!! )
AzirAphale001
I don't mean to rain on your parade but you might want to check out your computers system specifications. Some of the mods out there can eat up your FPS for beakfast.
dezdimona
Also when adding mods, load order is very important or CTD's will occur. Also many of the bigger mods require OBSE (oblivion script extender) to function properly. Feel free to ask for help,we'll do everything we can to make your oblivion experience an enjoyable one!
bben46
Welcome to the Nexus Please start small, load just 1 simple mod and learn how to get a mod to work in your game. Then never load more than 3 new mods at a time without testing. I constantly see requests for help from new mod users who installed twenty or so mods at a time and their game fails. They usually end up reinstalling whether they really need to or not. Be sure to upgrade to the latest patch - many mods will not work without it. These are not mods, but utility programs that do not install like mods - so read the instructions for each before trying to install them. Recommended utilities 7-zip an unzipping program - needed to get mods into the gamehttp://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=15579OBMM, Oblivion Mod Manager -A utility program for managing modshttp://timeslip.chorrol.com/obmm.htmlOBSE - Oblivion Script Extender - a utility required for many mods.http://obse.silverlock.org/ As you gain experience you will find more useful utility programs
Antioche
...Shiny, thanks for the heads up guys. Been hitting the mods in F3 now for over a month, so I certainly know how a simple mis-cue in the mod manager can wreak havok on an otherwise 'stable' list of 100+ mods. I really appreciate the advice, and I may indeed have a question or three soon.. The toughest thing I've done SO far, is get the 4096x4096 hgec textures to de-archive themselves after downloading and renaming the split rar !! ( it was a setting in my winrar...i..think...) As far 'Looking into my computer specs'; don' worry bout raining on MY parade...well....Not in this lifetime... I won't go into the specifics, but suffice to say : "I built this machine to run SoE's near-doomed Vanguard: Saga of heros." ( a game so technically hamstrung, when it launched, it STILL took a machine that occupied three entire floors of a modern day office building to run even semi-smoothly ) Hand-picked and put together like Hgec's installer for his body mods, if this machine slows down, it's because I unplugged it from it's power supply. Thanks again guys !!! 67 mods up and running 'smooth' ...I...MAY actually get down to playing this game t'day !! When you done drooling(lol no offense, just a joke), you should check those mods out also.
