Tesla Armor Causes Crash

I have experienced a few random crashes to the desktop while playing, but nothing that would keep me from wanting to play the game until just a few days ago.

It all started when I killed my first Tesla Armor wearing Enclave guys. I cleaned out their corpses and opened up my Pipboy. As soon as I selected the "Tesla Armor" -- BANG! Crash to Desktop.

Tried again, about three different times with the same results. So, I started searching around online for this issue. I found one person in a different forum who mentioned having the same problem, but that was it - they just mentioned it and didn't even ask for a resolution (it was mentioned in passing and off-topic for the post). Other than that, I found general information on things to try when experiencing lots of crashes to desktop. Here's what I've tried so far:

1. Restarted computer...

2. Installed latest graphics drivers... lowered the hell out of the graphics settings....

3. Made sure that Fallout3.exe was on ffDshow's black-list (i.e. it won't interfere with it)

4. When #3. didn't work, I uninstalled ffdshow all together...

5. In conjunction with #4, uninstalled Ace CODEC pack since ffdshow was packaged with it...

6. Didn't realize that there was a relatively new patch for US version of Fallout 3, so installed that...

7. Made sure that my version of .NET Framework was not a BETA version (I have 3.5)

8. Updated the "Improved Power Armor" mod...

9. Read somewhere that because of the above mod adds more to the "effects" part in Pipboy, it can crash and suggested fix was to download another mod to increase the screen area of Pipboy. So I installed a UI mod that is supposed to increase the resolution of Pipboy and decrease the font size...

10. After all that...still same problem, so I try running it with NO mods....

still.... Crash to FRIGGIN DESKTOP!!!!

At this point I'm :wallbash:

What am I missing?

***UPDATE**** -== FIXED

Last night I went ahead and followed more instructions.....

1. Uninstalled all CODECS, with CODEC reset tool

2. Installed K-lite Basic 4.3.4

3. Start>Run>msconfig>Boot.ini Tab>Advanced Options>Set /MAXMEM to 2000

4. Start>Run> REGEDIT > HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management -> Double click on PagedPoolSize -> Change the value to hexadecimal = 18000000

5. Restarted....

Unchecked all the mods with FOMM. NOW I was able to select the Tesla armor!

After some further troubleshooting, I found that there may have been a mod at fault after all.... or maybe it was a combination of disabling this mod and the steps taken above, or some of the steps. It's hard to tell considering disabling it didn't work the first time around.

The mod in question is called vanilla apparel corrected v2. It's supposed to adjust the plain clothes in the game to make them more "useable".

What VANILLA CLOTHING has to do with Tesla ARMOR, I don't know.... but I'm not going to question it at this point.

I know this may be a late response but I wanted to add on a note for confirmation. I was having the same issue and it came down to a mod that edited the enchantments on the armor. I don't I had to remove the extra enchantments, just mark them "hidden" so the inventory did not have to render them. I had this same issue with a custom regeneration module I created earlier. It crashed too when I looked at it in inventory. I had 9 enchantments on it but it stopped crashing after I marked the enchantments hidden. They still seem to work without a hitch.
