raptor1261992
I've been searching and searching but i can't find a modeller for my mod Covert War. I really need someone who can create new armor meshes i personally have no graphical expertise whatsoever, i can model a cube but thats about it however i can give relatively detailed descriptions of what i want the stuff to look like
sumoftwosins
I'm sure people would like to know more about your project. Does the mod just going to add new armor or does the mod entail a lot of other stuff and you'd just like to have new armor? If the mod has a bunch of other stuff... have you made any progress on the mod outside of the new armor? The point I am trying to get at is any skilled enough person to make new armor isn't going to want to make stuff for a mod that you will not be able to make. I'm not trying to be offensive. I honestly don't know if you can make the mod or not... I'm not assuming anything on that part. I'm just saying that you might want to beef up the info you provide to ensure any potential modelers that they are not wasting their time and you have made good progress on the rest of the mod. Guest Messenjah
Yep Sumoftwosins is exactly right. I'm a CG artist myself but I am mostly doing it as a hobby outside of dancing and I'm mostly retired from it and more interested in learning quest building with the GECK right now. Until I know the basic level design and some basic scripting and I can prove it, I know that I can ask other artists to help me. I would suggest looking around at the materials on TES Nexus. Find some mods you like, study the video tutorials first, then look at some regular tutorials and start digging around and taking the mods you like apart. Figure out how to do some quick retextures using NIFTools. Then just build a mod around those components and ask later. Start small, like with some kind of basic quest, then get a little bit bigger with each quest. If an artist doesn't give you permission to use their models, learn to make your own or ask an artist to help you make something later after your mod is at least 50% ready minus the custom animations/textures/models that you need others to make. IE: Last night I set up a custom character. She has a custom race and class to make it easy to edit her later (that way I can customize the skin and body if I want to. I then went out and found some various models for a gun and some armor, made some custom directories for the textures and meshes, used NIFTools to re-point the new texture directories to the models, brought them in-game, found some stats on each weapon from the mods they came from and from general Fallout history and customized the guns and armor a tad for balance and set her up. Tonight or tomorrow when I get time, I'll add her into the game world, add a couple of slavers, figure out how to set her up so that she is tied up and add some dialogue in. :) Next will be setting up some basic follower/companion scripts and some other quests. raptor1261992
sorry about the lack of information regarding the mod, but at the moment im putting any plans for it on hold as im embroiled as Project leader of two Sins of a solar empire mods, i think i took too much onto my plate but in regards to this, i just can't do modeling and it is going to be fairly extensive, adding several new weapons, four PC followers, three sets of power armor and a fairly long quest
raptor1261992
FOrgot to add something, to be honest, i haven't gotten past the planning stage yet, i have someone who can do the various dungeons of hte mod and someone to do weapons but am just waiting for them to finish with their current work anyway the description of the mod:Covert War, A mod for Fallout 3 Two years before the great nuclear war, the United States Military created a special forces team known only as SPECTRE. SPECTRE was an elite group of soldiers, handpicked from the best the US Army and Marines had to offer. This team was created with one mission: Eliminate China’s nuclear capability in the event of imminent nuclear attack. The team was trained, and put into cryogenic stasis to await their inevitable mission. They would not be awoken, not for another 200 years at least, in two years, the great nuclear war occurred, and the underground facility they were stored in was cut off from the surface. For 200 years the facility has remained dormant, till it was discovered by a Wastelander named Jack Mitchell. Mitchell is a resident of Megaton….perhaps you can find out the location of the facility from him. Quest: The Player hears about a resident of megaton who has found a pre-war facility from Colin Moriarty (or Gob, haven’t decided). They tell him about Jack Mitchell, the resident who discovered the SPECTRE compound. Just as they reach Jack’s house, they see a small detachment of Enclave troopers wearing a new type of power armor walk out of the house. Inside the house the player speaks with Jack who tells him about this facility. The player makes it to the SPECTRE facility before the Enclave troops. Inside the player makes his/her way down to the second floor of the facility. On the second floor, the player discovers a room with four cryo stasis chambers. The player sees they are occupied and revives the occupants. Upon revival, the player is questioned by the commander of the squad. The commander asks if china is about to nuke the US (their mission was to disable chinas nuclear capability in case of an imment attack). The player explains that china has already attacked and shows the commander images of the capital wasteland and tells the commander it has been 200 years since the great war. The commander then thanks the player and confers with his squad mates. Here the player has two choices, help the squad or leave them (or even kill them). If the player chooses to help the squad, the player tells them about the brotherhood of steel and the enclave. The squad chooses to seek out the brotherhood (since the brotherhood is the remnant of the US Military). At that moment, they hear a noise and a squad of four Enclave troopers enters the room and tells SPECTRE and the player to lay down their weapons, the group refuses and kills the enclave troopers. Assuming that the facility has been compromised, the commander of spectre asks the player to help them clear the facility. To that end, he tells the player that he has permission to take equipment from the armory down the hall (ONLY THAT ARMORY). Inside the armory, the player will find numerous weapons and ammo, in particular is a full set of T-52a Spider Recon Armor and a full complement of SPECTRE weapons (M810 combat knives, M790-ASTs, -GLs and –SPs and M800-HE and –FA pistols along with a lot of ammo for each). A fierce close quarters battle to clear the facility (there are 20 Enclave troopers. On the first floor, the player and squad manage to capture an enemy soldier. Upon interrogating the prisoner, they discover that they are from an Elite Enclave unit, the Lancers, sent to locate and secure this particular facility, he also tells them of the location of their compound. This leads the commander of spectre to ask the player to help in an assault on the Lancer compound. The commander tells the player to report back to him when ready to begin the assault. Upon telling the commander that the player is ready, the player and squad are teleported to a location outside of the Lancer compound (which can be visited later on and looted). The commander explains the plan and the battle begins. There will be about 20 to 30 Lancer’s in the compound. Once half of them are eliminated a small group of Brotherhood of Steel troops arrives to assist the player and SPECTRE. Upon the securing of the compound, SPECTRE joins up with the brotherhood of steel and decides to make their base of operations the old spectre facility (which has now been fortified and is populated by brotherhood troops in addition to Spectre). The commander makes the player a member of SPECTRE and gives the player a keycard that will allow them access to a previously off-limits section of the facility. Within the player will find another SPECTRE weapon in addition to a large store of Ammunition for the guns and ARRX chemical. Additionally, the player will now be able to recruit one of the members of spectre as a follower (only one at a time, and they cannot die). Also, there will still be a few Lancer compounds (which the squad will allow you to go after) around the wasteland. New Equipment: Armor: T-52a “Spider” Recon ArmorEffects: Auto Injectors (health regeneration, heightened awareness and slight reflex boost), Stealth Field Generator (only while in sneak mode), Agility +5, Sneak +10Description: The T-52a Recon armor was specifically created for the SPECTRE unit. Much more expensive and better than the standard T-51b power armor used by the US Army, it has a built in stealth field generator and its own life support/healing system to allow the wearer to repair their body on the run. The T-52a is designed to allow the wearer to be self-sufficient. The T-52a also has some side affects, prolonged use of the armor gives the wearer an addiction to the chemical “A.R.R.X” (Awareness, Regenerative, Reflexive Experimental) a chemical specially created for SPECTRE, to give them greater awareness, allow them to regenerate health and give them improved reflexes. A.R.R.X is used in the suit’s life support system to heal the wearer and provides the wearer with enhanced reflexes and movement. Helmet:Effects: Advanced Visor (Night Vision, increased weapons range and accuracy), Perception +5, Critical Strike Chance +5 Enclave T-67x “Lancer” Assault ArmorEffects: Auto Injectors (healing only), Advanced Powerplant, Advanced Weapons, Enhanced Strength Description: An experimental Enclave Power Armor, far superior to the T-51b power armor, the T-67x is currently used only by the Lancers, an elite squad of enclave shock troops. Features an Advanced Powerplant allowing it to support more powerful weapons, more notably, the experimental XE-78 Plasma Cannon Weapons: M790 Modular Special Forces Rifle Assault Variant (M790-AST) Ammunition: 7.62 mm Tungsten Core AP rounds Scope: No Clip Size: 20 Description: The M790 Modular Rifle was developed specifically for SPECTRE. The M790 is modular, allowing it to have several configurations, thus allowing the user to be able to change the configuration on the fly. The standard configuration is the M790-AST, which has a silencer and red dot scope attached. This particular variant uses a top loading magazine. The M790 also comes in Grenade Launcher and Sniper variants. M790 Modular Special Forces Rifle Grenade Launcher Variant (M790-GL) Ammunition: Incendiary Grenades Scope: No Clip Size: 4 Description: The M790-GL is the Grenade Launcher Variant of the M790 MODSFR. The M790-GL unlike its cousins uses incendiary grenades instead of frag grenades. M790 Modular Special Forces Rifle Sniper Variant (M790-SP) Ammunition: .50 calibre AP round Scope: YesClip Size: 5 Description: The M790-SP is the Sniper rifle variant of the M790 Rifle. Mounting a silencer and larger scope, the M790-SP unlike the AST variant, uses a bullpup configuration (the magazine is behind the trigger). Useful for taking out enemies at a distance. The M790-SP has also been refitted to use a .50 cal Tungsten Core Armor Piercing Round. M800 Modular Special Forces Pistol (M800-HE) Ammunition: 9 mm HE round Scope: No Clip Size: 8 Description: A silenced pistol designed specifically for SPECTRE, the M800 is another addition to the already formidable arsenal of SPECTRE. Like its bigger cousin, the M790 MODSFR, the M800 MODSFP is modular allowing it to use multiple weapons’ configurations. The most often used it’s the M800-HE, with it being re-chambered to use a 9 mm High Explosive Round. M800 Modular Special Forces Pistol Automatic Variant (M800-FA) Ammunition: 9 mm AP roundScope: No Clip Size: 24 Description: A Full auto variant of the M800 MODSFP, the M800-FA variant has no silencer and features full automatic firing capability and a larger magazine. Useful for tight situations when an M800 HE or M790-AST is too big. M810 Combat Knife Description: The M810 Combat knife is unique to SPECTRE. Unlike the standard issue US Army combat knife which uses a metal blade, the M810 uses a laser projected blade, allowing it to slice through almost anything, also functions as a taser. XE-78 Plasma Cannon Ammunition: Plasma Cartridge Scope: No Clip Size: 10 Description: The XE-78 is an experimental plasma cannon currently used only by the Lancers. The simple reasoning for this is that standard Enclave power armor does not have a large enough power supply. The XE-78 fires a large orb of superheated plasma at its target. Unlike the standard Enclave plasma rifle, the XE-78 has enough fire power to take down enemy armor. XE-79 Plasma Assault Rifle Ammunition: Plasma Cartridge Scope: No Clip Size: 18 Description: The XE-79 is an attempt to make a rapid fire plasma rifle. Unlike the standard issue plasma rifle it is rapid fire and carries much less ammo but is much more powerful (leading it to require much more power). The XE-79 is a quick and deadly solution to any situation and is employed by the Lancers. note that this isn't fully updated, and im wondering, can someone make the T-52a a lighter, recon looking version of the T-51b, i mean all this armor modelling will really entail is editing the existing meshes nad making them look different EDIT: i can get started on it and have preliminary stuff done with a week or two i just can't do scripting or modelling
