Snecard
Hey everyone! So I'm having some issues with Fallout 3. Obviously I've modded it a bit, but I've been following Gopher's guide to everything, so I thought that it should be working fine. What's happening is that it's freezing inside buildings. I'm not sure if it's only interiors, because I haven't played it much, but it haven't froze once when I was out in the wasteland, but in interiors it just crashes after a few minutes, sometimes right after I get inside. prensa
Snecard - Hello!Sounds like the Fallout 3 multi core bug, it's the most common cause of freezing in Fallout 3. The freezing is often worst in cramped interiors too.Fallout 3 has trouble with multi core computers, mainly with ones that have more than two cores & use hyperthreading. So if you've got a multi core that's probably your problem. There is a fix, you need to edit your Fallout 3 .ini file. The one you want to change is:For XP:My Documents\My Games\Fallout3\For Vista & Win7:Documents\My Games\Fallout3The file you want will be called:FALLOUT.iniOpen the .ini with Notepad & change this line:bUseThreadedAI=0to:bUseThreadedAI=1& insert this line under it:iNumHWThreads=2Save & close your ini.Hope this helps!Prensa
Snecard
Yeah, I forgot to mention that I've tried that already :( It doesn't help either
prensa
Snecard - Hello! Make sure you definitely edited / added those lines in your FALLOUT.ini in Documents. It's a common mistake to add them to the Fallout_default.ini that's in your Fallout 3 folder. Prensa

pkleiss
How does your game play when no mods are installed, when you run a clean vanilla fallout 3 (with DLCs of course)?
Snecard
Tried without any DLCs like you said, and it still crashed inside a building.
pkleiss
Well, actually I suggested running no mods except the DLCs. But if you are telling me that with only the Fallout3.esm, your game crashes in interiors, that is a big problem. What version of fallout are you using - like retail DVD, steam, Goty, Russian, German, etc... I used a guide years ago to tweak my game, but I can't remember what it was called except that it has the word 'tweak' in its title. It was quite comprehensive and dealt with many issues including the one you are having. I don't know anything about Gopher's Guide, so I can't say that the one I am thinking of is on par, better or worse than what you have already been looking at. I'll poke around and see if I can't find that old guide... Okay, I found it. Love that google: http://www.tweakguides.com/Fallout3_1.html
Snecard
Oups, I ran it with all the DLCs, sorry. And I'm using the GOTY edition from Steam. I'll look at that guide and see if I can find a solution Edited June 23, 2013 by Snecard
