Nudedragon
When creating a thread like this, there's a section on the bottom called attach files. Supposedly an option exists for adding an attachment to PM's and posts. I even have a little tool called my media for using past attachments. Yet, I see no option to attach files to anything other than threads, and I shouldn't make a thread every time I need an attachment. So how do I add attachments to posts, threads, or the 'my media' tool without making a thread? Attachment unrelated... thanks in advance for the help! DrakeTheDragon
In every post you create you can use an advanced editor by clicking the button right next to the submit button. In this editor you immediately get the option to "Attach Files". It is a huge, hard to miss area at the bottom of the input field, with many buttons and a big "clip" image to the left. I'm sure it's the same editor you're in when you create a new topic, and it's the same "Attach Files" you were talking of, but for individual posts this time. Nudedragon
Cool, that works for posts anyway, thanks! I still don't see the option in the private messenger, though. Where "use full editor" is in posting, I find "preview message" instead.
DrakeTheDragon
I don't think a PM even can have attachments. I've never seen it done so far.And I, too, can't see any means to do it in the editor.
Nudedragon
Huh, well that's too bad. Thanks for the help, I guess I'll have to find alternatives to posing attachments in personal messages, then :P
DrakeTheDragon
Well, don't expect to be able to use the Nexus as a private file sharing service or an alternative to emails by any chance though. You are limited to a total sum of 1000KB for 'all' attachments uploaded to the site. While you can always go and remove the attachment you just PM'ed someone (if it was possible) right after the recipient called back he received and downloaded it... I think you'll still grow tired of it in no time. Forget it a few times too many, and you'll be out of space next time you try. This 1000KB isn't exactly much by any definition. A regular email can take more than that in one go, and it's almost unlimited how many of these you can send. Nudedragon
I only needed the option to send a custom XML to the author of Lootification, with values for mods not already covered by the provided XML. It's not like I need to send files on a regular basis :P
bben46
@nudedragon - if we opened it up, then there would be those who insist it is their 'right' to abuse it - and will until we close it again. There are plenty of file sharing sites available that do this far better - I use Dropbox & set the file as 'public' then give the recipient the address to get it. If you want to share editing on a file, That works in dropbox - any edits on one side will be automatically synced to every other computer that has permission the next time they log in. No need to download & reupload a long file every time there is a change.
