CTD on moving to exterior

Hi guys,

 

Currently having an issue with skyrim crashing to desktop whenever I move from an inside area to an outside area. It currently has me trapped at the Inn in Riverwood. My I can't seem to get it working but when I have deactivated every mod it allows me to step outside again. The same thing was happening when leaving the temple in Whiterun, but if i uses COC to move somewhere it work for a few seconds and I'd be outside then crash. I've included my mod list below, I've been through trying to isolate the mod that's causing the problem but I can't narrow it down. I thought it might be the vram issue people are talking about but removing the hires textures hasn't helped. I have a retail copy (DVD) ofr skyrim with the DLC packages via steam. All mods were downloaded via nexus and installed with the manager without any fiddling from me.

 

If you could help, i'd really appreciate it.

1. Did you modify your game's ini files?

2. Do you have "A Quality World Map" installed?

3. Try to open the map before going outside and turn a full 360^o circle while the map is open, then attempt to go outside.

I have a quality world map installed, I have previously edited the INI files to get it to recognise quad core and few other settings but i haven't edited them since xmas when I installed skyrim. I tried the turning round thing but i'm not sure how i can turn round while the map is open.

I am having the exact same problem all of a sudden....am well into my game and it just started happening. I have no 'World Maps' installed, nor have I tweaked my 'ini'...and haven't recently added any more Mods. I checked my Logs and it says the VM is freezing. Are there any other known causes for this?

See if removing "A Quality World Map" works...

It can also be related to auto saves... if removing the map doesnt work, see if disabling auto saves does the trick for you...

Wow...well that's an unusual fix....spinning the 'World Map'....I will try disabling Auto Saves myself first and if that doesn't work, I will try this World Map spin.....Thank you prod... :happy: ....Crossing fingers it works.

Unfortunately the spinning world map, disabling the quality map and autosaves haven't worked. Checking out that thread you meantioned though. Is there anyway to reset INI files to default. maybe i just need to go back to basics?

Mmm thats too bad...

 

Yes, sure, you can reset them... just rename the old ones and have steam verify your game files... that will put new ones back. Be careful if you edited your uGridsToLoad, you'll have to revert back to the default value before you have steam recreate them or your save wont open at all.... you need to follow a process to return back to the normal uGrids... I think RealVision ENB mod page has details on a simple way to go back.

Trying cleaning Mods with TES5Edit.

 

I had 100% CTD when closing in on Karthwaster (near Markarth). Cleaning all Mods with TES5Edit fixed this issue.

 

Might fix your issue.

Looks like it was 1 of 2 things:

 

1) I cleaned most of the files that BOSS mentioned when i ran it.

 

2) I also moved all of the PC Exclusive Animation Path files to the bottom, I also realised that i don't use them so unticked them in the load order.

 

Result was normally working game as if the last 3 weeks never happened.
