Jetstar88
The game was playing fine until I decided to delete Skyrim, a lot of Fo3 mods, and some unused .esps. Now, it crashes on the "Please Stand By" screen, right when the cursor would usually load. I verified the Game Cache; it said there were 11 missing files and that they were reacquired, but it changed nothing. I put all the deleted content back in the respective folders; nothing. I deleted and let the game rebuild the .ini folders in documents\My Games\FalloutNV; nothing. I prayed a little; nothing. I tried launching the game through NVSE; nothing. I ran BOSS; nothing. Any ideas? Do either BOSS or NVSE have a crash log I could look at, since the Windows crash thingy is so useless for troubleshooting? EDIT: After verifying the Cache Files three times, the issue persists. After the second and third time, it has said there is one file that needs to be reacquired. Of course, it would be way to intuitive for Steam to actually say which file it is. Edited June 24, 2013 by Jetstar88

Deleted39752235User
I get the same crash. What I do to do avoid it, is making the New Vegas window not the main active window while it's loading up. When you see the vault boy icon appear in it's window on the task bar, then switch back to the New Vegas window. More of a workaround than a fix, but had worked for me so far. dubiousintent
"Verify local files" will ALWAYS reacquire at least one file. Don't worry about that single file report. For the startup CTD, please see the 'Issue: Application load Windows error(s)' entry in the wiki "Fallout NV Mod Conflict Troubleshooting" guide. If your problem isn't one of those, see the "Windows Error Messages" section of the wiki "How to read most Bethesda game error logs" article. You may not be able to make sense of that information, but some of us can. -Dubious-
